Hortus sanitatis.
From my set "Best Weed Flower Micros:"

.
Some of these photographs appear to be close-ups of regular-sized flowers; they are not. All of these photos are micro (macro) photographs of the super-tiny blooms that blossom on common weeds.
Weed flowers...wild flowers...whichever appellation you want to bestow on them nonetheless these almost microscopic beauties are the flowers that bloom on the weeds in my yard.
Most of these flowers when measured petal tip to petal tip at their widest diameters measure 1/4" (6mm) across…or less...the entire bloom is that small. But the smallest weed flower I've shot yet is a small ring of flowers that measured less than 1/32" (.7mm) in diameter which encircled a spire which measured about 1/64" (0.3mm) in diameter.
For some photos I’ve included references to common objects such as the head of a paper match. On some others I’ve listed a description of the actual size of each object in the photo.
So far I've made over 600 photographs of over 48 varieties of weed flowers; this set represents the best of the best.

When I saw the flower I froze in water, I noticed these beautiful lines of air in the ice. They almost look like curious little creatures :)
If you use your imagination this branch from a dead tree kind of looks like the head of some sort of weird creature. Perhaps a serpent or a snake or something.

Discarded Paper
4th Grade, Montclair Elementary, Oakland , CA. 2008
Students transformed a 2-D material, paper, into a 3-D creature sculpture by folding and gluing construction paper. Then they named and wrote character descriptions about their creature.
The students created an environment for their creatures. The collaborative piece, titled "Montclair Menagerie" was entered in Oakland's Re-Cycle Art Contest where it earned an honorable mention and was exhibited in city hall.

Be aware of this mean little ucker. His name is Ruby Rusty Red Rabbit, but we just call him "Psycho-Rabbit", because that's what he is. Angy, agressive, sociopathic and unpredictable. Mean and mad he sits there and looks angry on the world. Sometimes growling. If he could, he would slaver. As I said: Very agressive, but could not harm, because too soft. Maybe that's the reason for his loose screw. Favourite movie: Donnie Darko, what else...
Squikerling (Mellitimus Squikis)
Creator: Elerd
Ancestors: Pouched Nectarling, Squiking Nectarling
Habitat: Yokto Temperate Forest, Huggs-Yokto Savanna
Size: 10 cm long
Diet: Nectarivore (Sugar-Trunked Balloonarch, Trunkpuff)
Reproduction: Sexual, three genders, live birth, pouch
The Squikerling evolved from its two ancestors when groups of Pouched Nectarlings mingled with Squiking Nectarling female. The result of this mingle was a tri-gendered species, with a male, a female and a pouched individual.
Just like their ancestors, they dig with their snouts to eat the Sugar-Trunked Balloonarch's nectar, and they live in groups of a dominant male, hunter females, and caregiver Pouchers.
The male dominant is normally 10 cm long, with red color to signal its maturity and dominance. His breathing nostril is somewhat reduced, making it harder for him to breath and run, therefore he mainly relies on the females of his group to bring him food.
Other males are smaller than the dominant, and get no reproductive privileges with the females and Pouchers. They are referred to as bachelors, and can usually be spotted sneaking around the group's den.
The females are smaller than the male and normally vary between 5 and 10 individuals in each group.
The Pouchers are hermaphrodites, and can help the group sustain full birth cycles when either of the two remaining genders is absent. Otherwise, the Pouchers mainly care for the young being born from the females, so they can hunt for nectar.
They have smaller snouts and a big pouch under their jaw, and number no more than 5 individuals in any group.
In times of need, the Squikerlings can eat other things, such as nectar from the Basketrunk, Beries from the Green-Berry Rapidgrass, and Trunkpuff.

CREATURES #5 is an interactive installation by Pier Giorgio De Pinto supplemented with the presence of the dancer Katja Vaghi. She will observe, reproduce and elaborate the movement generated by the audience in front of the digital installation.
Beside the five traditional senses, important to our everyday activities are balance and the kinesthetic sense or proprioception. These last two are central to dance. Dance thus work predominantly with our six and seven sense! The installation wants to make the audience aware of their and other people’s movement and convey the message that any movement produced by any one can potentially generate dance material.
A camera via software will use webcam effects decoding people in front of a screen. The installation modifies the result of the effects thanks to movement and strength of natural light caught by the camera. Similarly, at set interval, the dancer will observe, reproduce and elaborate the movements produced by the audience in front of the installation.
The intent is to make the audience conscious of their own movements and that of others. When interacting with the installation they will mostly be aware of their intentions but not of the aesthetic potential they are generating. Thus, the audience will have the choice of continuing interacting with the installation and/or with the dancer.

St Peter's at Church Lawford is medieval in origin, but what we see today is a mostly Victorian structure by Slater & Carpenter (built 1871-3) and quite a handsome building. The only medieval part is the north arcade inside and a plain blocked Norman south door, the exterior is otherwise wholly the result of the Victorian rebuilding. Externally there are some eye catching carved adornments and the fine west tower is a good local landmark, prominently sited to be visible from the nearby railway (the sight of it has welcomed me home on numerous occasions over the years).
Inside the church is rather spacious, if a little grey owing to the unpainted or grey-washed render that lines its walls. The remaining medieval part is apparent in the late 14th century north nave arcade with its banded piers of alternating coloured stonework. The Victorian south arcade happily follows a similar design in order to give harmony to the interior. Alas there is little else to see of the pre-Victorian church aside from the rather plain font and some intriguing 17th century carved woodwork in the chancel (dated 1618) and the pulpit of similar date (alas I didn't get photos of this or the architectural remnants under the tower as time was limited). There is much late Victorian or early 20th century glass in the chancel and north aisle, with an east window by Kempe and several fine windows by Heaton, Butler & Bayne.
I'd first got into this church many years ago by luckily stumbling across a keyholder. It is still kept locked now but on this occasion a group visit enabled me to revisit. Unfortunately the casual visitor is unlikely to get inside without prior arrangement, a pity as it does reward a visit.
