I believe every person has musical creativity inside them. I consider it my specialty and purpose to find that artistry and help each of my students find pleasure in expressing the beauty of music. Consistent and structured practice is necessary to succeed, but just as important is ensuring my students enjoy themselves in their pursuit of musical and technical proficiency. I enjoy teaching all levels, from beginners through advanced cellists, and feel it is important to come together as a group for recitals.
I began my musical studies at the age of 9 on the piano and cello studying with Edith Sullivan and Lois Errante in Wilton, Connecticut. As the Norwalk Youth Symphony Concerto Competition winner I had the opportunity of performing the gorgeous Elgar Cello Concerto in E minor as soloist with orchestra. After high school I attended the Schulich School of Music at McGill University where I studied with renowned cellist Matt Haimovitz for four years and graduated with a degree in Cello Performance. I’ve been part of several performance tours across Europe as featured soloist, Principal cellist, and orchestra member. Until my recent move to Seattle, I had a thriving cello studio in Connecticut and performed with the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra. My journey led me to Seattle where I now flourish as a cello teacher and performer.
My performance experiences both as soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra member solidified my passion for making music not just as a soloist, but a member of something greater - a part of a team - making music with other musicians. There is a way of communicating through music that cannot be said with words, and I strive for my students to experience this.
