A re-worked (hopefully for the better) version.
As always, your faves and comments are appreciated. Constructive criticism and suggestions are especially welcome as I believe they help to make me a better photographer. Thank you for taking the time to look at my photos.

This image worked well using the shadows in the forest as a background. I used my 100-400 lens to capture this delicate woodland plant because there are times I don’t want to step off the trail to get closer with my macro lens. The focal length was about 300 and I shot at f8. It was a bit breezy so it is not tack sharp. But I love the softer effect to emphasize the delicate features of this plant. I had to get low to keep the background simple. This is just the top of the whole plant. The camera captured a somewhat darker shade of this purple pink background which I lightened a bit in my editing. Then I added a subtle texturing. My goal is to go back next week and try to capture a similar shot with the flowers blooming.
Today was another glorious day for a short walk in a small town nearby. I tried carrying my camera with me this time with my 24-105 lens. I saw this bright yellow flower beckoning me to be noticed. The sky was blue but for Sliders Sunday I blended in another sky picture I had taken last month. Then I blended in this Belted Bumblebee, I took last spring, to add a little interest. Lastly I used a “ faded glow” filter to give it an artistic feel. Happy Sliders Sunday!
Recently I went on an outing with two good photographer friends. We explored small towns and rural areas with no set goal in mind except to enjoy each other’s company. I was on the hunt for minimalist snow scenes. This snow drift had some shadow and light play on the white curves but it was all very bright. So I used a few sliders in my edit to give it more texture and deepen the shadows to accentuate that curved bowl that the plants were sitting in. After the exploring, we had a delightful lunch in a small cafe renown for its delicious treats. I love quiet celebrations like this with good friends. Happy Sliders Sunday!

Embrace the spirit of the season. May some of your greatest gifts be good health and happiness in the simple pleasures of life. (This is a composite image of several images taken by myself. )
I would like to wish all my Canadian friends a very happy Canada Day and celebratory week end! I would especially like to dedicate this is my personal Canadian Flickr friends who are wonderful and inspirational people and photographers.

Once we started doing our long road trips a few years ago, we used to love seeing a Tim Horton’s for a pit stop and a coffee. There were so many around that they were easy to find and not far off the beaten path. Their coffee was always hot and did not have that burnt taste from sitting on the burner too long. I collected a few mugs from our earlier road trips to commemorate those times of rushing to our destination because we only had so many days off from work. Now that we are retired, we take the backroads and we bring our own thermos with our preferred Kicking Horse coffee. I love my morning coffee. This week, I got hit hard by COVID and suddenly I am turned off coffee. There is this metallic taste in my mouth that throws off the coffee flavour. Many of you have probably experienced the same thing. Sigh. I think I have another week ahead of me of being sick. I miss my coffee. (This is a blend of two images I took. One of the mug and the other is the “ steam” I photographed separately. Then I added some texturing and a filter for Sliders Sunday). Stay healthy everyone.
My brother-in-law carved this wooden figure and gifted it to me recently because I love birds so much. I set the figure on my deck post with the Burning Bush and Yellow bird feeder in the background. The original image shows a very soft DOF. Then, in post processing I blended in another landscape image of mine to give the textures in the background. After a few more tweaks, I have this creation for Sliders Sunday!
“Meraki ( Greek) - when you do something with soul, creativity or love; putting a piece of yourself into what you do.”
Today was a Meraki moment when I realized it may be our last day of freezing temperatures for a while to try photographing frozen bubbles. So the planned housecleaning was put aside. I got lost in my photography! For Sliders Sunday, I used a preset filter in Lightroom to get the blue tones in the crystals of this bubble image I captured. Then I blended another image I took last week of the Maple seeds hanging on a snowy branch and put it inside the bubble. I do love the magic of winter.
For Sliders Sunday, I made a composite image from two of my own images one of which is an ICM taken in camera at evening hour. There was some editing post blending. It now shows a truly gusty day!
“When you realize the real luxuries in life are time, slow mornings and the freedom to choose what you want to do.” - Unknown.
This bat was skimming above the water in the bay mid afternoon last week. He was pretty fast and very random in his flight so trying to get a shot of him in flight was a challenge. It is unusual to see them flying so early in the day. That is the beauty of being free to set your own rhythm or schedule in life. With a few slides, I gave the image a more artistic feel by creating two color tones in the water instead just the blue. I think it emphasizes the shadow of the bat.
“Feathers are thought to carry spiritual energy and can serve as reminders that you are not alone, even in challenging times.” This is a slide of two prized feathers I found in my backyard this summer. When I think of the transitions in the feathers that the young birds made as they got older and the molting stages of the adults, these feathers remind me of how we can shed the old and embrace the new to give us that energy to go forward. Happy Sliders Sunday!
This picture may be amazing for some people and may be the opposite for another but the subject of the picture remains the most important: to reinforce it: a child covered with the Iraqi flag in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, a snapshot does not mean more than wait and hope for an Iraqi immigrant in the West, even for another people not inmigrants , may be one day they sat at this place meeting contemplating the past in the present.
