“See with one eye, feel with the other.” - Paul Klee. The beauty of playing around with sliders and editing is that you get to explore more how you feel about an image rather than just getting it technically right. Happy Sliders Sunday.

Birds were blown away by the currents from the wind and waves; engaged in the roller coaster ride. Footprints were blown away by the blasts of wind and wave ; erasing another moment in time. I was blown away by the raw power of the wind and waves; bringing life on the wild side to the rugged scene. - Lynn Reket

This is another scene from our trip to PEI this fall. I blended the image with a wood grain image I had in my files to create this composite with lots of textures. I think the lines in the wood grain gives more of a feel of movement to the image. Happy Sliders Sunday!

Happy Slider Sunday!

There are so many extremes in the spring weather across Canada this year already. Heat waves for some, golf ball hailstones for others, raging fires and then snow in the Rockies in June! What will the summer bring? This is a multiple exposure image of my tulips earlier this spring. Fingers crossed we all get a break from the weather extremes next season.

The five petaled Hellebore, a little gem from my garden :)

As we transition from winter to spring and the ice melts, many of us are looking forward to emerging out of our pandemic isolations and seeing new life emerge on the earth around us. I am also hoping that the Ukrainian people can find the strength for continued hope and a chance for renewal soon. Enjoy this Slider for Sunday.

For the people of Belgium today.

We can be so content, if we gather little sunbeams.

“Dream to the max” is a phrase we hear on advertisements for lottery tickets. Gosh, the prize was up to 50 million the other day! I said to the person at the counter “ Why don’t they just offer 50 one million dollar prizes?” She replied that not as many people would buy the ticket then. They would wait until the prize was bigger. Really? My big dream is that the new year brings us tons of opportunities to go road tripping and finding nice light for photo shoots again. BUT…..it would be nice to win just one million so our children could be mortgage free. 😏. Happy Sliders Sunday!

Another shot of those amazing statues. So beautiful and grand.

“A bird in hand is a certainty. But a bird in the bush may sing.” - Bret Harte. That gentle touch between human and birds is such a great feeling. It seems easier to make a connection to the Chickadees than any other bird. These guys often take time to look at you. It is sad that we have to be so careful now with the spread of the Avian flu. Last year they had to kill all the birds in our park because of it. Hopefully, our birds can survive this flu. I would miss hearing the birds singing in the bush.

The Nuthatch is a bundle of energy. I often see him zooming in for a handful of seeds between regular visits from the Chickadees. I have had many heartwarming moments chatting with Chickadees as they land on my hand and they look up at me. But the Nuthatches are usually in a hurry to grab and go. This particular one was not the least bit shy. He waited on our heads and on my finger as I was ready to press the shutter button to take a picture of the Chickadee. In this moment, he looked up at my husband as if to plead for more seeds. It was a delight to connect with this little guy. And yes, we did have more seeds for him. This is a composite of 2 images I took. I used a snowy forest as a background and then added the frame. Happy Sliders Sunday.

As always, your faves and comments are appreciated. Constructive criticism and suggestions are especially welcome as I believe they help to make me a better photographer. Thank you for taking the time to look at my photos.

While looking for lonely trees in blizzard conditions, I was hoping for a gnarly tree with unique character. Then I saw this tree and decided there was something to be admired for standing straight and tall against the elements. For Sliders Sunday, I did a B&W conversion with strong contrast, lightened up the scene without taking away too much of the texture of the snow, and then added grain to keep with the fine veil of snow hanging over the field.

“Nobody ever figures out what life is all about, and it doesn’t matter. Explore the world. Nearly everything is really interesting if you go into it deeply enough.” - Richard Feynman. It is a delight to see people’s reactions to frozen soap bubbles if they have never seen them before. It is not quite cold enough here to photograph them well but I did a practice run to see what I need and where I can shoot them outside. What a luxury to go out on the porch early morning to explore the world of frozen bubbles and then come in to have that first hot coffee of the morning to warm up. I did not like the base I used for this experiment, so for Sliders Sunday, I added a generic background to make it appear to be coming out of the fog.

With only two weeks left until Christmas, I want to take a moment to wish everyone a great holiday season. The biggest wish is that we all have good health. The second is that we all make great new memories to look back on. The third is for all of us to continue to be inspired when looking at our world through our lenses. I took this image of the ornament using in camera multiple exposures to get that Orton effect. Then I added other effects in post processing.

This is a blend of three ICM images of a sunset with a few slides added to create this image for Slider Sunday.

Yesterday, my husband and I found a place where the Tree Swallows were having a party. We sat for most of the morning watching them as they flew right over our heads. Sometimes it looked like they were going to fly right into us when suddenly they veered of to the side and missed us. They are so fast and efficient in their flying. We practiced trying to capture them with our cameras. When we got home, we both realized we needed to do better. So we went back again today! We had time to spare for practicing our skills and getting it right. Plus, we enjoyed being a spectator in the quiet setting with the warm sun on us. I still am not completely happy with my results and I look forward to going back again! Happy Wing Wednesday!

Today I came across this beautiful structure of fungi on our walk in the woods. The design caught my attention but the caps appeared to be dark grey, almost black with a lighter color in the stem and gills. It was in deep shade. I had my macro lens and took the shot thinking maybe I would convert to black and white. Then I took out my portable light and shone it under the fungi. I was surprised to see hints of blue and green show up in the caps! Bert helped to direct the light at just the right angle to bring out most of the color. Then in post edit, I used several sliders to bring out contrast, warmth, and darken the background. Lastly, I applied a light HDR filter. It is a single shot so I am happy with how sharp it turned out. Happy Sliders Sunday!

“We aren’t guaranteed the time we think we need to mend fences with those we love.” - Eileen Wilks

This scene made me think of the movie "Steel Magnolias" . It is a movie about family relationships and how they deal with the death of one of their own. In these times, it was a sober reminder to stay connected with some of my family and to make sure that all is well with us. Life is short and if there are things to be said, we should say them.

This is a frozen soap bubble I had some success with when the temps were colder last weekend. I added a simple edit to add an extra blue bubble for the theme " blue on black background". Once the temperatures drop again, I hope to experiment more with these.

This is another creation using in camera multiple exposures with three images blended together. One image I zoomed in, another I zoomed out and then one was taken stationary. It made this Garden Cosmos look like a pinwheel.

The word means a drizzly fog or mist. These were the conditions when I took this picture. I used a few slides to bring out the fence line and reflections in the flooded field. Happy Sliders Sunday!

Well they were Blue but I thought I would change them to Red, captured in the woods close to my home yesterday and I thought Why not, I haven't been out with my camera as it is away for a service and repair this was my back up camera Nikon D3200 which I think will be going for a service too but it was lovely to get out for an hour in nature, best medicine ever.
