Située au centre de la vieille ville, l’église Sainte Marie Majeure est le monument le plus ancien de la ville. Commencée par les Pisans au 12e siècle, l’église fut terminée un siècle plus tard par les Génois, ce qui explique le mélange de style roman et gothique. Son existence est attestée dès le 13e siècle, d'après un acte notarié passé "sotto la loggia di Santa Maria di Bonifacio" le 5 septembre 1222. La façade occidentale construite au 13e siècle est précédée d'une loggia couverte d'une charpente. Le clocher date du 14e siècle et repose partiellement sur les absides médiévales. De l'époque médiévale, datent les chéneaux servant à recueillir les eaux pluviales qui se déversaient dans la citerne communale située sous la loggia. L'actuelle sacristie a été aménagée au début du 17e siècle avec la création d'un accès vers le choeur. Au cours du deuxième quart du 18e siècle, le maître-autel et les chapelles latérales ont été réalisés. En 1756, la corporation des marchands de la ville confie la réalisation de la chapelle Notre-Dame du Mont-Carmel au sculpteur Giulio Martinetti. Celle du Sacré-Coeur sera édifiée en 1769. Bonifacio resta tout comme Calvi fidèle à la République de Gênes.
Located in the center of the old town, the Church of St. Mary Major is the oldest monument in the city. Begun by the Pisans in the 12th century, the church was completed a century later by the Genoese, which explains the mixture of Romanesque and Gothic styles. Its existence is attested from the 13th century, according to a notarial deed passed "sotto la loggia di Santa Maria di Bonifacio" on September 5, 1222. The western facade built in the 13th century is preceded by a loggia covered with a frame. The bell tower dates from the 14th century and partially rests on the medieval apses. From medieval times, date the gutters used to collect rainwater which flowed into the municipal cistern located under the loggia. The current sacristy was fitted out at the beginning of the 17th century with the creation of an access to the choir. During the second quarter of the 18th century, the high altar and the side chapels were completed. In 1756, the corporation of merchants of the city entrusted the construction of the Notre-Dame du Mont-Carmel chapel to the sculptor Giulio Martinetti. That of the Sacré-Coeur will be built in 1769. Bonifacio, like Calvi, remained faithful to the Republic of Genoa.

This is perhaps the single most famous panel on Michelangelo's Sistine Ceiling.
I think it depicts the moment just after God has given life to Adam/Man; their hands almost touching, ... though most interpret this as the moment just before the giving of life.
The depiction of God here, is in simple clothing. The female figure, under God's left hand, is thought to be Eve.
Figures of youths surround the Genesis panels, sitting in various poses on painted pedestals. Their purpose seem to be mainly decorative.

Shooting the lava ocean entry was no easy task. It was a constant battle with steam, timing the shutter, and hoping for a clearing to see the lava. For this shot I wanted a close up crop of the lava making its way into the ocean. Zooming all the way in I focused solely on the edge of the bench where the lava rolled into the ocean. I did not get to see the dripping lava action that I really wanted but this rolling action was quite eventful as well. I took many shots trying to get the timing right and hoping for a clear scene. Eventually the steam cleared for a short span and the red lava glowed intensely against the blue backdrop of twilight. Thanks again to Lava Light for taking us out and showing us an amazing time!

This is it! After the Torment, the Negotiator proudly joins my Midi-Scale capital ship collection, engineered with the same philosophy in mind: maximizing accuracy, features and proportions of the original model in a moderate size.
Made of 3,145 pieces, 68cm (27 inches) long, weighing 1,6kg, the Negotiator is a medium-sized, modular Venator-class Star Destroyer holding on a single, unique Lego stand.
This piece of work is the result of weeks of designing, engineering and intense testing. I wanted the Negotiator to be dense, massive-looking, intricate and packed with detail, while being compact and manageable.
Building at such a scale, I had to take into account every possible constraint (balance, weight distribution, structure sturdiness) while never compromising any aesthetics (SNOT look, thickness, greeble).
The Negotiator features every intricate part of the studio model: turrets, hangar and docking bays, engines, bridge, greeble... with utter attention to detail and proportions of the original ship, as seen in the Prequels.
