I have uploaded three photos of ceilings in the Nazrid Palace of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. They are all from the Hall of the Kings (Sala de los Reyes) and is described below. This is an example of Mocárabe, a form of ornamented vaulting in Islamic architecture. The other two are of paintings on leather attached to the wood ceilings of rectangular rooms. There is a third such ceiling that I did not photograph.
This place is called Hall of the Kings (Sala de los Reyes) and was also called Justice Hall (Sala de la Justicia) and Court (Tribunal) from the 18th century.
The hall is divided into seven parts: three square rooms (as this one), separated by two rectangular sections and two bedchambers at the end of them. In the square rooms there are domes of mocarabes, double arches lead to the rectangular sections. This layout and this decoration bring out the light that enters the hall. The heavy arches of the hall contrast with the walls' delicate decoration, made up of inscriptions and a tile skirting board, which surrounded the hall and from which only two original fragments are left.
The paintings are on three ellipse-shaped wooden domes and covered by leather. The middle painting represents the first ten kings of the Nasrid dynasty. The lateral vaults depict scenes of chivalry (especially hunting scenes) and romantic scenes, so they possibly tell legends or adventures of the Muslim kings. In spite of this, they are clearly Christian paintings, which is apparent because of the clumsier and less precise representations of Muslim scenes in comparison with the Spanish scenes. According to the clues from the painting about the kings, these paintings could correspond to the reigns of Mohammed VII (1395-1410) or Yusuf III (1410-1424).
In Iberian architecture Mocárabe is a form of ornamented vaulting in Islamic architecture. It is the archetypal form of Islamic architecture, integral to the vernacular of Islamic buildings. The muqarnas structure originated from the squinch. Sometimes called "honeycomb vaulting" or "stalactite vaulting", the purpose of muqarnas is to create a smooth, decorative zone of transition in an otherwise bare, structural space. This structure gives the ability to distinguish between the main parts of a building, and serve as a transition from the walls of a room into a domed ceiling.
Muqarnas is significant in Islamic architecture because its elaborate form is a symbolic representation of universal creation by God. Muqarnas architecture is featured in domes, half-dome entrances, iwans and apses. The two main types of muqarnas are the North African/Middle Eastern style, composed of a series of downward triangular projections, and the Iranian style, composed of connecting tiers of segments.

Rencontres d'Arles
The Rencontres d’Arles (formerly called Rencontres internationales de la photographie d’Arles) is an annual summer photography festival founded in 1970 by the Arles photographer Lucien Clergue, the writer Michel Tournier and the historian Jean-Maurice Rouquette.
The Rencontres d’Arles has an international impact by showing material that has never been seen by the public before. In 2015, the festival welcomed 93,000 visitors.
The specially designed exhibitions, often organised in collaboration with French and foreign museums and institutions, take place in various historic sites. Some venues, such as 12th-century chapels or 19th-century industrial buildings, are open to the public throughout the festival.
The Rencontres d’Arles has revealed many photographers, confirming its significance as a springboard for photography and contemporary creativity.
In recent years the Rencontres d’Arles has invited many guest curators and entrusted some of its programming to such figures as Martin Parr in 2004, Raymond Depardon in 2006 and the Arles-born fashion designer Christian Lacroix.

Events
Opening week at the Rencontres d’Arles features photography-focused events (projections at night, exhibition tours, panel discussions, symposia, parties, book signings, etc.) in the town’s historic venues, some of which are only open to the public during the festival. Memorable events in recent years include Europe Night (2008), an overview of European photography; Christian Lacroix’s fashion show for the festival’s closing (2008); and Patti Smith’s concert for the Vu agency’s 20th anniversary (2006).
Nights at the Roman Theatre
At night, work by a photographer or a photography expert is projected in the town’s open-air Roman theatre accompanied by concerts and performances. Each event is a one-off creation. In 2009, 8,500 people attended evenings at the Roman theatre, an average of 2,000 a night, and 2,500 were there on closing night, when the Tiger Lilies played during a projection of Nan Goldin’s “The Ballad of Sexual Dependency”. In 2013 over 6,000 people attended the nighttime photography projections, an average of approximately 1,000 each night.
The Night of the Year
The Night of the Year, which was created in 2006, allows visitors to walk around and see the festival’s favourite works by artists and photographers as well as carte blanche exhibitions by institutions.
Cosmos-Arles Books
Cosmos-Arles Books is a Rencontres d’Arles satellite event dedicated to new publishing practices.
Over the past 15 years large-scale photographic publications, self-published books, and ebooks have become essential media for experimentation by photographers and artists. They allow photography to be rediscovered as a means of expression and distribution, providing a rich terrain of expression for the art’s fundamentally hybrid forms.
Symposia and panel discussions
Photographers and professionals participating in symposia and panel discussions during opening week discuss their work or issues raised by the images on display. In recent years the themes included whether a black-and-white aesthetic is still conceivable in photography (2013); the impact of social networks on creativity and information (2011); breaking with past, a key idea for photography today (2009); photography commissions: freedom or constraint (2008); challenges and changes in the photography market (2007).
The Rencontres d’Arles awards
Since 2002 the Rencontres d’Arles awards have been an opportunity to discover new talents. In 2007 the number of annual awards was reduced to three, presented at the closing ceremony of the festival’s professional week: the Discovery Award (€25,000), Author’s Book Award (€8,000) and History Book Award (€8,000).
Luma Rencontres Dummy Book Award
In 2015 the Rencontres d’Arles offered an award to assist with the publication of a dummy book. Endowed with a €25,000 budget production budget, this new prize is open to all photographers and artists using photography who submit a dummy book that has never been published.
The winner’s book will be produced in autumn 2015 and be presented at the 2016 Rencontres d’Arles.
Photo Folio Review & Gallery
Since 2006 aspiring photographers have been able to submit their portfolios to international photography experts in various fields, including publishers, exhibition curators, heads of institutions, agency directors, gallery owners, collectors, critics and photo editors, for appraisal during the festival’s opening week. Photo Folio Review & Gallery offers them an opportunity to show their work throughout the festival.
Photography classes
The Rencontres d’Arles has always been a place where professional photographers and practitioners on every level have been able to meet each other and exchange ideas. Each year, photography class participants undertake a personal journey of creation through photography’s aesthetic, ethical and technological issues. Leading photographers such as Guy le Querrec, Antoine d’Agata, Martin Parr, René Burri and Joan Fontcuberta regularly teach at the Rencontres d’Arles.
Rentrée en Images
“Rentrée en Images” has been a key part of the festival’s educational activities since 2004. During the first two weeks in September, special mediators take students from the primary to graduate school level on guided tours of the exhibitions. Based on the festival’s programming, the event aims to introduce young people to the visual arts and fits in with a wider policy of cultural democratisation. “Rentrée en Images” reaches thousands of students, and for many of them it is their first exposure to contemporary art.

Public funding accounted for 40% of the 2015 festival’s €6.3-million budget, sales (mainly of tickets and derivative products), 40% and private partnerships, 20%[clarification needed][citation needed].

Chinese photography is presented for the first time abroad as a major exhibition with 40 Chinese photographers, including Wu Yinxian, Zhang Hai-er, Chen Baosheng, Ling Fei, Xia Yonglie, curated by Karl Kugel, co-director of the film China: Inner views / Chine: vues intérieures, released at the opening of the festival. Most major photographers who have covered this country are also present either in the exhibition of Magnum Photos, curated by François Hébel, either in solo exhibitions, such as Marc Riboud ou de Jeanloup Sieff.

"Hello there."
It was my first year of construction and I totally love it. I met a lot of awesome people from our community. I got tons of positive feedback and I started to create a community that willingly follows my work. I'm glad to be part of our AFOLs world. I really enjoyed creating Star Wars and Chrismtas MOCs in 2019.
This year I will continue my work! I have a lot of ideas from SW and many other Universe. I would like to improve my building skills and start using and inventing more advanced techniques.

I am honored to be one of 60's artists asked by Mezco Toyz to take part in their Mez-Itz art show at this year's San Diego Comic Con. Mez-Itz are their new upcoming line of 6" designer vinyl figures. For my entry, I decided to make a mummy. He is not based on any particular mummy, but definitely inspired by classic mummy films.

Tile street art by Invader, seen in London, England. Invader is the pseudonym of a French urban artist, born in 1969, whose work is modeled on the crude pixellation of 1970s 8-bit video games. He took his name from the 1978 arcade game Space Invaders, and much of his work is composed of square ceramic tiles inspired by video game characters. Although he prefers to remain incognito, and guards his identity carefully, his distinctive creations can be seen in many highly-visible locations in more than 60 cities in 30 countries. He documents each intervention in a city as an "Invasion", and has published books and maps of the location of each of his street mosaics.

These two Mute Swans were so much fun to watch I can't tell you how beautiful they looked in the glint of the autumn sun..........I hope you enjoy this moment that I was fortunate enough to capture..........I could hardly tear myself away.........I used my tele-conversion lens for this shot..Enjoy!!
"The phrase swan song refers to this swan and to the legend that it is utterly silent until the last moment of its life, and then sings one achingly beautiful song just before dying; in reality, the Mute Swan is not completely silent, but has a kind of guttural warning call it will give when approached."
"Mute swans have keen vision and hearing. Mute swans are usually silent, as the name suggests. Adults sometimes snort and make hissing noises or puppy-like barking notes or whistles, though the sounds are not far-reaching due to their straight trachea. Also, the sound of the wings during flight, which has been described as a musical throbbing or humming, is very audible. They also use visual displays as a form of communication, such as postures. For example, in an aggressive posture, males often arch their secondary wing feathers over the back."

Le musee se devoile en exposant sa collection permanente.
Chacune des oeuvres est une porte d'entree sur l'univers d'un artiste ou sur le souvenir d'une exposition. Rassemblees par le MIMA, elles donnent une image de la creation contemporaine, de l'esprit creatif de l'epoque, d'un 'Zeitgeist' du Millenium.
La caverne
Les oeuvres rassemblees au premier etage ont ete produites par des artistes qui n'ont pas exposes ici. Elles ont ete acquises, pour la plupart, avant l'ouverture du MIMA en 2016.
Symboliquement cet etage est baptise la 'caverne' en clin d'oeil a l'allegorie platonicienne critiquant notre connaissance biaisee de la realite. Dans le mythe, des hommes au fond d'une grotte prennent les ombres sur les murs pour la realite. Ces illusions du reel, sont comparables pour le MIMA aux peintures du premier niveau qui vantent une culture filtree par les ecrans et les livres plutot qu'experimentee sur son propre terrain d'exposition.
Le terrain de jeu
Les travaux presentes au deuxieme etage sont comme des jouets laisses par les artistes exposes au MIMA.
A partir de 2016, la collection devient un miroir imparfait du passe ou tous les artistes et toutes les expositions de l'institution n'y figurent pas pour de nombreuses raisons. En pointille se dessine la le portrait societal raconte par l'institution.

Le projet museal du MIMA sera-t-il encore adapte a son epoque apres dix ans d'activite?
Pour y repondre, le musee annonce sa fermeture definitive a la fin de 2026!
En se fixant une deadline a sa propre existence, le musee s'impose une remise en question qui aboutira soit a se reinventer, soit a disparaitre.
L'installation du troisieme etage imagine l'heritage que laisserait le MIMA s'il ferme ses portes en 2027.
