New land being created for Maasvlakte II outside Maasvlakte Rotterdam. This is going to be another expansion of the port of Rotterdam. Dredging work continues 24/7. Since last time I was here a couple of months ago, they made enormous progress. Shot at 400mm ISO 200 F/10.0 at 1/800, turned monochrome in Lightroom. Silhouet shot, showing the sand being spout whilst water sprays off.

Testing out my new lens, a Canon EF100-400mm. Very happy with results sofar. It's quite large but manageable to carry and shoot even without tripod. It comes with image stabilizer and USM (ultrasonic motor) for the auto-focussing. Below some shots of the new gear, shot with my blackberry (poor quality..)

My daughter will start kinder garden soon - I had to sew apron for art classes.

Usually I avoid black prints, but this time it fits perfect!

The bottle itself, located 465 feet from home plate, contains viewing platforms and four slides, two 56-foot-long curving slides (the "Guzzler") and two 20-foot-long twisting slides (the "Twist-Off"). Coca-Cola Superslide is made up of lengths of dark green laminated wood, each 80 feet long, formed to shape the famous Coca-Cola contour bottle. The wood is held together by steel bands embedded within circular wooden collars. The bottle weighs 130,000 pounds, rests at an angle of 25 degrees and is 47 feet tall at its highest point. A home run by the Giants and other celebratory occasions will activate a sophisticated sequence of lights that will congratulate the home team and its fans.

The glove is a 26-foot-high, 32-foot-wide and 12-foot-deep replica of a vintage 1927 four-fingered baseball mitt. It is 36 times the size of the original model and weighs 20,000 pounds. The glove, designed in Berkeley and built in Oakland, provides fans with a close-up view of a timeless baseball icon. The glove, instantly recognizable as a part of the game, will be a fun target for big league hitters. Although, if hitters reach this glove, they will have hit a ball approximately 501 feet and it won't be an out. The mitt was constructed by scanning the original model to create a 3-D file showing every stitch and wrinkle. A computer router, using the 3-D model as a guide, carved the outline of the glove from high-density foam. The foam was cut into blocks to make them easier to handle and covered with fiberglass before being assembled, attached to a steel infrastructure, and hand sculpted by artists. The artists who crafted the glove took great measures to maintain the authentic look and feel of the original mitt. The surface is a flexible epoxy compound that was molded and treated to look like worn leather. The grommets are real brass and the stitching, done by hand, uses marine grade rope. Local artisans put in hundreds of hours on this sculpture to make sure the right materials were selected for the glove's display.

Coca-Cola and the Giants agreed to model the glove after a four-fingered mitt owned by Giants senior vice president and general counsel Jack Bair's father.

My friend Bill Westerman, along with his super kind wife Ilana, run this cool company in California called Create with context.

They work in helping other companies to improve, innovate and evolve in terms of technology according to people's specific needs.

They have worked with important clients such as Adobe, Yahoo, Amway, Panasonic, Ebay, IBM among others.

They ask me to illustrate their 2010 bussiness calendar. The topic, of course, people.

Different people=different aproach to technology.

So, ¡¡here are the images!!!!

Many people have been discouraged by the steep learning curve that faces them when first confronted with the program's user interface. My tutorial will take you on a step-by-step journey to create this mountain scene. The tutorial is very easy to follow, and it is compiled in a pdf format to make it as accessible as possible. When you have completed it you should have the confidence to start creating your own Terragen 2 scenes.

Good luck

For my last quarter at UC Santa Cruz, I was finally able to take intro to photo. this batch is taken from my first assignment: the photo scavenger hunt. We basically had to go down a list of things that were supposed to inspire us to shoot a variety of different things. I had fun with it. The category each picture is from is the name of each photo.
