The large cloister was also designed by Dosio on an existing fourteenth-century cloister; however, the finishing work was later carried out by Cosimo Fanzago. The Bergamo architect created the half-pilasters at the corners of the gallery, five of the seven busts above the corner doors that characterize the walls, and the Baroque balustrade of the fourteenth-century monks' cemetery, decorated with skulls and bones.
The Certosa di San Martino ("Charterhouse of St. Martin") is a former monastery complex, now a museum, in Naples, southern Italy. Along with Castel Sant'Elmo that stands beside it, this is the most visible landmark of the city, perched atop the Vomero hill that commands the gulf. A Carthusian monastery, it was finished and inaugurated under the rule of Joan I of Naples in 1368. It was dedicated to St. Martin of Tours. During the first half of the 16th century it was expanded. Later, in 1623, it was further expanded and became, under the direction of architect Cosimo Fanzago, essentially the structure one sees today.

We are creating an Art Float for Social Change at Tam Makers, to inspire more people to participate in democracy.
Our parade float features Mother Earth and a circle of hands, pulled by the colorful dragon Quetzy. Young activists will sing and speak about social change -- and artists will share their ideas on our spinning carousel. They want you all to vote, speak up and create a better world!
This community art project was created by over a hundred volunteers at Tam Makers, led by Fabrice Florin and Geo Monley, with the generous support of Good Earth, Mill Valley Community Action Network and Tamalpais High School.
The Art Float for Social Change will reach out to youth and people of color through art, music and technology. We will present this art show on Earth Day, Memorial Day and Fourth of July parades in Marin -- and throughout California this fall, to encourage people to vote in the next elections.

Our unique art float celebrates mother earth with a carousel of waving hands, pulled by a giant feathered serpent. Performers will tell stories of hope on a stage decorated with scenes of a better world. Large signs will invite people to speak up and vote! You can pitch ideas for social change on the podium, or have them scroll on the news ticker.
This community art project is created by a team of students and makers, led by Fabrice Florin and Geo Monley, co-founders of Tam Makers in Mill Valley. We are grateful to Tam High School for hosting this project and to all our wonderful volunteers and art, civic and educational partners, for helping create this float and present it to a diverse community.
We are building this project in March and April 2018, on Thursday evenings from 4 to 9pm -- or Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm. If you would like to volunteer, please email us at float@tammakers.org.

Warm it up Large and Dark.
Brrrr!
Another visit to David's shed - the fire here is the same as the one Dylan Thomas had in the room where he did his writing... and is, apparently, for sale (any potential fire purchasers can drop me a line and I'll put you in touch with David!).
Not easy lighting here since the interior of the shed is rather gloomy but I think the result worked out OK - if I were into HDR then I'm sure I could create a shot full of mesmerising textures and patterns.. and I have to say that in black and white HDR is vastely improved.. but to date this isn't something I've tried.
So until I give HDR a whirl...
.. enjoy

Longridge won this game having dominated possession , and creating enough early chances to win 3 games, against a very well organised and hardworking Whitehaven side.
Town started strongly and should have scored at least the opening goal as the Whitehaven keeper saved well from Brad Carsley, McDonald crashed a volley against the bar, Carsley hit the post and McKenna was denied what looked a clear penalty by the referee on 20 minutes.
Chances came and went, as Longridge played their best football for several weeks without getting the breakthrough they deserved and the inconsistency of the referee, bizarrely chosen for this game despite his performance in Towns recent defeat to Garstang, hindered both sides.
Half time came at 0-0, but the Town faithful remained confident as Asheys side were dominating the game, and the vital first goal would surely come in the second half.
Carsley had a free kick well saved 10 minutes into the half, and Ged Smith had a decent penalty shout waved away a minute later.
Ashcroft then replaced Ryan McKenna on the hour as the Manager looked for the vital 3 points, going straight up front with Carsley, and Longridge looked more threatening immediately.
Dovey in the Town goal was having a quiet day, and remained untroubled, as Whitehaven sat deep and were quite content to defend their clean sheet, albeit they were doing it very well.
The goal came on 70 minutes as an inswinging Ged Smith corner looked destined to go straight in, before Carsley made sure with a deft flick of the head, to make it 1-0 to Longridge. No more than 'The Ridge' deserved and the feeling now amongst a celebrating home crowd of 108 was that Town would go on to add to their lead.
Jordan Bowen and Luke McKenna were having excellent games for Longridge, and kept the ball at will before finding Carsley wide right with just 5 minutes remaining. The powerful striker drove at the visiting defence before being brought down for Towns 3rd penalty shout of the game. He got himself to his feet to take the kick, but was thwarted as the young Whitehaven keeper made an excellent save diving to his right. Stil 1-0 to Longridge.
Both Jack Preston and youngster Elliot Breakell were brought on for cameo appearances, before the referee added six additional minutes to the dismay of the players, crowd, team Managers and Linesmen, the last of his bewildering decisions of the day.
The result was never put in doubt however, as Town kept possession and played out time to take the 3 points that keeps them at the top of the West Lancashire League Premier Division with just two games remaining.
This is the sign my daughter and her boyfriend designed for the image in the exhibition for which I wanted people to create their own titles. You can see it at the bottom of the city street image in the previous shot.... I love it!
