This is a piece of work from my A-Level Coursework. I had to design promotional work for a Delicatessen called Luciano's.
For this item we were asked to create a fashion garment for a company called 'PULP'. The requirements were that the item related to some sort of occasion and that it may only be made from paper materials.
Inspired by Gillian Wearing. Models: all from Carlisle Ambulance Service, thank you very much for your co-opration, I know some of you were highly uncomfortable being in front of the camera, but I appreciate you doing this so much. Oh, and thanks mum fro organising it.
2009 art coursework on parents living vicariously through their children. Polymer clay, chalk pastel, readymades.
The title of the piece in the images is PG: Playing God.
Artist Statement: Encased in a closely monitored environment, children lead a life padded with the safe assurances of parental choices. However, such care has the danger of morphing into an overbearing compulsiveness in ensuring a stable future for the child; what parents see as the profession of success could also be an embodiment of their own faded dreams, and hence they live vicariously through their children. Yet, the meticulous efforts in paving their youngsters' livelihood may not go as planned; the gulf of understanding between adult practicality and childish ignorance is indissoluble, and children, being immersed in innocence, fail to appreciate those preparations for the purposes they harbour.

-Further experiments with painting the rough areas of skin. I took a closer look at how Saville blends the dark areas immediately with the lighter ones, which was the main reason she achieved such realism and a 3D effect within her paintings. Doing this allowed me to feel more comfortable with painting in a more textural manner.

Coursework for our Still Imaging component of our module.
Had to take an image of a product that could be used for an advertising campaign. Had to be correctly light, focused etc. The 'mist' is water from a spray bottle, took forever to get it to look just right!
My AS coursework consisted of many experiments and techniques. My idea was to create a patchwork quilt made from paper, overlaid with images of different generations in my family. The meaning of this was to show the change in generations and the morals that have changed over time. I completed a survey to see how different ages of people felt about concepts such as same sex marriage and children before marriage to begin my thought process. As well as this I explored the idea of changing fashion. Finally I decided to focus all of my ideas into a piece about my own family and collected photographs of my family during different generations. I have displayed a photograph of my younger brother, my dad, my Granddad and my great Granddad to display this idea. In this photograph there is also a page displaying family heirlooms, artist responses and lastly- a page exploring the different techniques I explored when thinking about how to make the base for my final piece.

After learning the rules for portraits with regards to proportions and placement of facial features, we had to draw a self-portrait from a reference photo.
I'm not sure this is an very good likeness of me. I think I've drawn my head too small and my mouth makes me look serious. My hair was incredibly difficult to draw but I think it's come out all right.

The final products of my 'O' Level coursework were lost because my external harddrive crashed. These were the last prototypes before the final edits. Pity I don't have the final ones tho!
