Gwar, Body Count, Iron Reagan, Hatebreed at Hadads Lake in Richmond, VA

I made this game for a kindergartener during my student teaching year. He needed to practice counting. The game pieces are inside. They are little wooden circles and each is painted to look like a different bug (bee, ladybug, etc.)

These sheep just appeared in a long line for no apparent reason - could be worth looking at when trying to get to sleep!

Just outside of my count area for the Bowie CBC this morning. I thought the owl might have been injured, as a Red-shouldered Hawk kept hitting this owl on the head. Alas, the owl was having breakfast. I quickly left, so that the owl might quickly return to his feast. Thankfully, I was able to get back to my count area and resume the CBC, without having to drive an injured owl to get medical attention. Happy New Year!

As it is the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend, Millie and Mollie decided to help count the birds

Taken during the Guadalupe Delta Christmas Bird Count on the Guadalupe River along the Womack Ranch.

Every year the Womack Ranch generously has a staff member take me on a boat up and down the river. We make frequent stops where I hop out, walk into the woods, and play an Eastern Screech-Owl recording to attract songbirds. This year the day started out extremely cold, 23 degrees! But it was a clear day without much wind, and it warmed up to the mid 60s by mid-afternoon. It was beautiful and it was an amazing way to spend a day.
