This is not fixed nor is it in its final position, though this is the stone onto which it will be attached. I was merely trying to see how it would look when in place.
Edit: August 2012
Funny how things change. I was originally going to do these coping stones with foamboards covered with mosaic. Now, since we've had such lovely weather, I'm simply doing spontaneous mosaic designs directly onto the stones. It's a lot more fun and a chance for creativity to just 'flow' out :)

The mother-daughter writing team of Debbie and Jennifer Fink perform for Casey Elementary students at Hanson Field House Sept. 22. They are co-authors of, "The Little C.H.A.M.P.S: Child Heroes Attached to Military Personnel," now part of the USO's continuing mission to support military families. The Fink's book provides coping tools for kids as they face the ups and downs of life as a dependent.
This continues the theme of fishes swimming down the river. They lead to shell glass shapes and then finally a sun/moon design at the end.

This maybe be trivial and easy for some, but it was my first time barking the rear trucks on real coping. So I was and still am stoked!

Only someone who has lost a pet they loved so much can understand how emotionally draining and devastating it can be. Our pets are not merely an animal that we own, but a part of our family who we care about and who cares about us.

The treetop walk at the Otway fly treetop adventures was just amazing - I decided on b/w to show the branches as the artries of life.
This is Aaron from Chicago, I met him at this lovely creek, on the 1st floor of this restaurant. He asked for a cigarette, then we started speaking about , travelling , life stuff, and our purpose in this world. What is “the” way to live your life coping with our society?
Then the pretty Monet showed up and joined our discussion , I only have a portrait of her shot on Cinestill 50d, I will post it when I will finish this (everlasting) set of Lomochrome only shots.
De belles rencontres.

Psychosocial support services are integrated into wider primary and public health services provided to Rohingya refugees through the AHP Rohingya refugee response.
Farhana Tabassom is a Psychosocial Support Officer with Save the Children in Bangladesh where she is support Rohingya refugees in the camps in Coxs Bazar to deal with the trauma of leaving Myanmar and the day-to-day challenges of living in the camps.
Below is Farhana's insights into the challenges faced by the Rohingya.
"There are two main challenges that people are facing. Firstly, they worry about how to feed their children. They are provided rice, oil and lentils by the NGOS, but it is sometimes not enough. They worry about how to get fish or other forms of protein and vegetables for their children.
Secondly, the emotions about Myanmar are very strong. They want to go home. They worry and wonder if their land is still there, if their relatives are safe.
A lot of people lost family - their siblings, their parents, their sons and their daughters. they think about this loss and can get very distressed.
They have also faced violence that they cannot forget.
We provide them with coping strategies. But most importantly we listen actively and we are very respectful when we are listening. When so many people are distressed, they are not able to listen to each other as hearing the traumatic events experienced by others only adds to their stress.
Through the psychosocial services we refer serious cases to health professionals such as psychiatrists. We also refer any identified medical cases to the health centre.
Some of the coping mechanisms we offer include asking people what they like to do. For example, some people like praying, playing with their children or gardening. These activities bring them feelings of peace or happiness. So one coping mechanisms is to engage in these activities.
Gardening has proven a positive activity to engage in for many. There is not a lot of space in the camp, but people are planting small gardens around their shelters. This is not only an activity they enjoy, but it brings them outside and they begin to interact with those staying near them.
We cannot say that the trauma is lessening, and there is so much uncertainty being experienced by the Rohingya currently. We can say that their are strategies and health services being offered that can support people in distress and in need of care."

How I got through crossing the bridge. I'm not frozen paranoid about it, but I've never liked going across.
Before coming to TBH, I was lost in my own world. I had no coping skills. My only coping skill was to use drugs. And I thought that using was the only way of life. One night, I overdosed and had to come to TBH. I'm grateful that happened because that changed my whole life in the right way. While being in TBH, I have gained many coping skills and values. When I get out I plan to use everything TBH has taught me like patience, courage, and self-confidence in every of life's situations. I also plan to stay clean and help out my family at home. I want to thank Ms. Turley and Ms. Tamieka for showing me I can't always have it my way, Kevin Smith and Chris for showing me I can have fun and still do the right thing. Ms. Penn for finding me a job and Mr. Rick for not letting me make the phone call that changed my life.

We now have some new stonework on top of the stone wall on the north side of the bridge, and the railings this side are all but done apart from the top rail, lets just hope the idiots do not once again try to wreck it and the stonework.

CERAWK02292-07MAR2013-OV-SCHNEIDER.JPG - Coping with Disruption: Lessons from Hurricane Sandy, Katrina, and Fukushima
Recent events have highlighted the vulnerability of power infrastructure to disruptions from both natural causes – hurricanes, earthquakes and tsunamis – as well as to human threats from cyber and physical attacks. Power disruptions translate into much broader displacements that are costly and hard to redress. What have been the lessons learned from the recent disruptions? How can we increase preparedness for future event, improve resilience, and accelerate restoration and recovery?
