So basically about a year ago I took my old Alien Workshop skateboard deck and started to paint on it. I was gonna finish it with a friend, but that didn't happen. I ended up finishing it myself recently and I had fun with it. I figured that the cross could be the center of it and the colors around it represent different ethnicities and communities that live by the teachings presented in Christianity. Underneath the cross, I cited Matthew 16:24-25, which says, "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it." I feel that passage encompasses anyone who decided to follow Christ, not matter what their social or economic status is or what their heritage is. Since the body of Christ is diverse, it includes people from all areas in life, which I figured would be worth representing in artwork. The tobyMac album Welcome to Diverse City comes to mind as well. You can kinda see the original graphics of the skateboard deck that I didn't paint over if you look closely.

Feathers from a friend's farm; tail from Fish and Game.

For all the construction going on in New York City ( a lot in my neighborhood of Astoria) every now and then you see a monument to economic woes. This structure has been an empty shell for year now. Looks kinda cool.

We might be late to the party but we still got love & Linsanity. We are suckers for underdog stories and off the bench sensations. Want this bracelet, email us at hi@helloberryinc.com for more details.

Of particular interest to me were the kits for the Space Shuttle Atlantis and the Apollo Saturn V rocket.

When I was in grade school, I couldn't get enough about reading up about NASA and the beginnings of the space program, from the Mercury and Gemini rocket projects, to the Apollo moon landing program. I would read about space travel in books, and devoured the articles I came across in the World Book Encyclopedia.

I wanted to be an astronaut when I grew up. Unfortunately, mathematics and science were not my strong suits...

I can still dream, however...

Mini-Me... What more do you need to know. Maybe it was a wise decision to just him be silent, other than the occasional "Eeeeeeeeeee.... " throughout the 2nd and 3rd films.

Mind you, Verne J. Troyer has done speaking parts in other films. Even Danny DeVito had to gab when portraying Mini-Me in the film-within-a-film "Austinpussy" in Austin Powers in Goldmember. It kind of took away some of the charm.

Come on, you had to like the tribute to "Just The Two Of Us", didn't you? Maybe just a little bit? ^_-;

That's a stupid expression for New York snobs that don't travel much or are from VERY small towns

BUT

you hear it in New York all the time and after awhile - it seems to have merit. *blush*

I have noticed that there are some architectural details on buildings that I just don't see any where else.

Granted:

I don't travel much and I'm from a VERY small town. And I'm very much a New York snob. *a-hem* So . . . maybe I'm wrong.

But in New York, if not only in New York,

one does see interesting little elements on buildings all over the place that you don't typically see elsewhere.

Maybe in Tokyo; maybe in Hong Kong; maybe in Singapore. Maybe.

But not everywhere.

I LOVE NEW YORK

Newspapers had a nice run and all but it appears that they're time of delivering news to the world is almost over. The concept of actually reading the news simply can't compete with hot female news anchors reading it to us and nobody thinks Garfield is funny anymore. And seriously ... who uses coupons?
