There was a group of Japanese travelling around Trafalgar Sq. with quirky umbrellas last month. Japanese they have the quirkiest ideas - from packaging to applications.
...Because Megazone 23 was one of the first influential OAV (Original Animation Video) anime programs out there in the early 1980s, and one of my favorites.
What you may not know: Haruhiko Mikimoto was solely responsible for the character design of Eve Tokimatsuri, the computer-generated idol singer/host for the main TV network on Megazone 23, for the perpetual 1980s Tokyo metropolitan environment. All other character designs were done by Toshihiro Hirano.
The first film was my all-time favorite, followed up by the continuation film (With a somewhat different story, and character designs by Yasuomi Umetsu) - I have a version of the film on VHS that had a rewritten story and English dubbing by some of the voice actors who worked with Harmony Gold and Streamline Pictures. There were some classic lines - Ask any anime fan around my age (older than most of you, I'll bet - Try higher than 30 ^_-;), and see if they remember a classic line like "There's a whole bunch of ARMY dudes out there!" ^_^;
Anyway - I've yet to delve into this, but I will, and probably post a better positioned version of this book.

I came by these wonderful old B & W photos by way of my aunt. She was at a Scrap Booking convention/ retreat in the Red Woods of northern Calif. This woman sitting at the same table as my aunt, threw out three old photo albums full of family photos & post cards from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. The lady said the albums once belonged to her mother in law and since she didn't know the people in the photos she tossed the albums in the trash. My aunt later went dumpster diving and initially gave me one album and she kept the other two, then had a change of mind and gave me the other two albums.
You don't have to know the people to enjoy the photos. Well just like the old sayings go, "A picture is worth a 1000 words", or "One man's trash is another man's treasure"
Hey I could use a little help. If you recognize people or places or vehicles please speak up, add your comments please.

Got a huge piece of leopard fur off an antique fire damaged coat that a neighbor gave to me. The coat was far beyong repair, but I've been able to re-purpose it for a different use.
Newspapers had a nice run and all but it appears that they're time of delivering news to the world is almost over. The concept of actually reading the news simply can't compete with hot female news anchors reading it to us and nobody thinks Garfield is funny anymore. And seriously ... who uses coupons?

One of my all-time favorite films, because it's another solid comedy from the minds of John Landis ("Kentucky Fried Movie", "Animal House", "An American Werewolf In London"), Dan Aykroyd, and John Belushi (Both from Saturday Night Live, where the Blues Brothers originated)
I do own this film on DVD (Collectors' Edition - Theatrical and extended Director's Cut version!) and I enjoy watching it. (Sure, the soundtrack's probably available on iTunes - I hope, and I hope it's complete, but hey, I HAVE THE LP! I'm happy!)
One of these days, before I totally slim down, I should throw together a quick "Joliet" Jake Blues costume, since I somewhat resemble the late John Belushi (Well, if he had lived past age 33, and I'm not of Albanian lineage, but... Damnit, I have a black suit - I just need a thin black tie, the right watch, Ray-Bans, shoes, and the hat. Don't expect me to be doing backflips, though.)

Taxidermy and machinery. Re-Assembled Assembledge. Full sized fawn, reimagined and rebuilt.
This was at a fine art booth..and as related to me by Laurenn McCubbin (a fine artist I must say), many artists are experimenting and creating with taxidermy.
EDIT: This piece, as well as many other cool things, was found at the Century Guild booth. Their gallery is in Chicago. www.centuryguild.net I cannot recall the name of the artist, but will do a little research and credit accordingly.
