I came by these wonderful old B & W photos by way of my aunt. She was at a Scrap Booking convention/ retreat in the Red Woods of northern Calif. This woman sitting at the same table as my aunt, threw out three old photo albums full of family photos & post cards from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. The lady said the albums once belonged to her mother in law and since she didn't know the people in the photos she tossed the albums in the trash. My aunt later went dumpster diving and initially gave me one album and she kept the other two, then had a change of mind and gave me the other two albums.
You don't have to know the people to enjoy the photos. Well just like the old sayings go, "A picture is worth a 1000 words", or "One man's trash is another man's treasure"

A wonderful box of goodies from Melissa was waiting for me paciently when I arrived home from work. Seriously I don´t know what to do. I always start with a silly tap dance (which really worries me), then the giggling, singing, somersaults, balancing acts with my own shoes... Everything was meticulously wrapped and my heart jumped with joy every time I unwrapped a thing. So much fun, everything is so cool! Holy shit, I´m so excited. I really don´t kow what I´m going to do with you, Melissa...

Well-worn, hopefully in somewhat playable condition, and hopefully able to be restored like I did with the 12" vinyl of "Pac-Man Fever" from Buckner & Garcia.
(To tell you the truth, I was interested in the setup this one guy had at the Super Toy Show where he did LP/cassette audio cleanup and transfer to digital format. I wonder where one gets some kind of external box that conforms sound to RIAA specs? I need one of those boxes, damnit! I do in-house audio restoration and ripping, since I'm archiving what little vinyl I have.
Anyway, this film, of which I taped off the premium channels - I need to seek out an official video release ASAP! This is a wonderful classic from 1974. Brian De Palma directed and wrote it. Paul Williams did the music, and starred as Swan, the musician who sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for eternal life, and overseeing bands for his label, "Death Records" - Oh, yeah, Jessica Harper was in this film, as well as character actor (and frequent Brian De Palma cast favorite) William Finley as Winslow Leach/The Phantom.
I need to watch this film again, one way or another.
"And now for something completely different..." "Co-op," the cat likes to sleep in the window well behind the couch and the raccoon. She never notices the raccoon. I know it's a lousy picture, but the flash caught her by surprise, and the raccoon didn't care! A couple of years ago, my friends at Idaho Fish and Game were going to throw away the raccoon, because, as is obvious, it was wearing out. I don't think you really can throw anything like that away! The pin on its arm says, "This garment made entirely from animals who have committed suicide in the wild." Most of the exhibits like this at the Nature Center and Idaho Fish and Game have come from road kills or other accidents. Photo by Frank
Floriston, Calif. 1917
The town of Floriston in Northern Calif. was built by the Floriston Pulp and Paper Company in 1899 to house employees of their paper mill. It was said to be the second largest paper mill in the world in its time, with 500 employees.

I’ve been quietly obsessing over this ruler since seeing Jenny’s Urban Nine Patch Tutorial and Urban Deco Tutorial.I’m very much looking forward to playing with this ruler. A few ideas are already clamoring for attention.
Newspapers had a nice run and all but it appears that they're time of delivering news to the world is almost over. The concept of actually reading the news simply can't compete with hot female news anchors reading it to us and nobody thinks Garfield is funny anymore. And seriously ... who uses coupons?
