I came by these wonderful old B & W photos by way of my aunt. She was at a Scrap Booking convention/ retreat in the Red Woods of northern Calif. This woman sitting at the same table as my aunt, threw out three old photo albums full of family photos & post cards from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. The lady said the albums once belonged to her mother in law and since she didn't know the people in the photos she tossed the albums in the trash. My aunt later went dumpster diving and initially gave me one album and she kept the other two, then had a change of mind and gave me the other two albums.
You don't have to know the people to enjoy the photos. Well just like the old sayings go, "A picture is worth a 1000 words", or "One man's trash is another man's treasure"
Hey I could use a little help. If you recognize people or places or vehicles please speak up, add your comments please.
Caught in a torrential downpour after a nice date wayyyy uptown - yellow line subways stopped running, after midnight told to take THREE subway lines to get to my stop, I decided to walk. MISTAKE. lol
HUGE wind, massive rain, NO taxis, umbrella murdered by the wind I found myself drenched to the core walking what felt like naked in the onslaught.
I just LAUGHED out loud it was so ridiculous.
One good thing was - I stopped to hide from the rain a few times and got some nice shots from my new and as of yet uninsured cell phone. Thank goodness I have it ultra-protected - otherwise I suppose it would have been completely soaked and ruined.
(I call it my i-tank. lol I've got it so protected I say it's like wearing a condom with Speedos and then boxers - VERY SAFE.)

Christian Science Church Los Angeles, Calif. 1922
Former First Church of Christ Scientist — 1366 S. Alvarado St., Pico-Union district, Los Angeles, California. Present day Seventh-day Adventist Iglesia Adventista Central, and in the 1970s the Peoples Temple led by the Jim Jones. A Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument, and Historic district contributing property in the Alvarado Terrace Historic District.
My Grandmother once made the mistake of visiting the church at a friends request when Jim Jones was the pastor there in the '70s. She felt uncomfortable there and listened to his sermon and the service lasted so long and my grandmother began to think somethin' aint right, this Rev. Jim Jones dude is Off - like" SPACE CADET" OFF, and she felt he was not legit as a so called Man of God, so she got up to leave the service and the ushers of the church would not let her leave until my grandmother started to make a scene and got a little loud and then they opened the door and let her out. But unfortunately we all know the rest of the story, a lot of people got caught up in his madness and now they are dead.

I came by this wonderful old B & W photo by way of my aunt. There were a bunch more old photos that I already posted on here but I had no way of scanning this photo because it is 34 inches long. She was at a Scrap Booking convention/ retreat in the Red Woods of northern Calif. This woman sitting at the same table as my aunt, threw out three old photo albums full of family photos & post cards from the late 1800s to the early 1900s and this photo in a poster tube. The lady said the albums once belonged to her mother in law and since she didn't know the people in the photos she tossed the albums in the trash. My aunt later went dumpster diving and gave me one album and she kept the other two.
