It's a pretty cool job to be a wedding photographer. Today I tried this skin on. You do what you like and get tons of positive attitude! Took two my cams, Pentax K20d with a Tammy 18-250, and D90 with 50mm/1.8. Versatility won. Made some 400 shots with the Pentax and some 200 with the Nikon, and I'm afraid many Nikon shots are gonna go straight to the dustbin.
Cooling Castle is a privately owned castle in North Kent and is not open to the public. Only parts of it are visible from the road leading to Cooling Church but this includes the impressive outer gatehouse and one corner tower of the outer bailey.

The castle was built in the troubled 1380-1385 period by John De Cobham, 3rd Baron Cobham. This period also saw the building of Bodiam Castle and the West Gate of Canterbury. While ostensibly built to protect against French raids these defences also served to overawe the local population who had risen in revolt against Richard II in 1381 - the period known at The Peasants Revolt.
Cooling, Bodiam and the Canterbury gatehouse also share many stylistic features including their 'inverted keyhole' gunloops, the earliest dateable gunloops in England. Some gunloops at an abbey on the Isle of Wight may be earlier (1365) but this cannot be confirmed.
The castle was composed of a western inner bailey with strong Bodiam-style stone walls and round towers and an eastern outer bailey surrounded by an earth embankment and round stone corner towers - the whole site being surrounded by a moat or ditch. The moat at the western end is still flooded but is hidden behind modern trees. It is possible that the earth eastern bailey was only topped with a palisade supported by the stone towers.
A later occupant of the castle was Sir John Oldcastle - who had married a Cobham - and who was a supporter of John Wyciiffe and the Lollards. The Lollards were an early form of Protestantism and were regarded as heretics in Catholic England. He was hanged on Christmas Day 1417 and his body was burned to prevent his resurrection on Judgement Day.
In 1554 Sir Thomas Wyatt revolted against Queen Mary and attacked the castle on his advance to London. The current Lord Cobham surrendered Cooling Castle after a siege of only six hours pleading shortage of cannon and lack of support. Wyatt captured Lord Cobham and his two sons and forced them to march with him to London but they managed to escape and went back to Cooling.
The castle was damaged by cannon fire and was never fully repaired. The present house was built around 1670 and is in private hands.
One cool gift idea! My great friend made me this "diaper cake" but it has more than just diapers in it! It's filled with diapers, rolled up onesies, rolled up washcloths, etc. There are also tons of little baby mittens, hair bow clips, teething toys, regular toys, toys for the car seat, puppets...I could go on and on. It's all tied together to a wooden rod in the center. It's fun to look at and discover new things. I'll be sad to take it apart!
On Friday, February 7, 2014, high school and middle school students dashed into the icy Atlantic as part of Special Olympics Virginia’s largest fundraiser: The Polar Plunge and the Cool School Challenge.
“Raising one million dollars for the fourth year in a row is incredible,” said Rick Jeffrey, Special Olympics Virginia president. “More importantly, though, these funds will help us to build bigger, better, more inclusive communities across the state of Virginia.”
In addition to the money raised, they got to take the icy dip into the Atlantic, all while earning a Friday “pass” from school, earn community service credit, Costume contests – prizes for best dressed male and female, prizes for teacher or team sponsor, and freezing photos.

Fog was rolling in as I took these hand held night photos of the cooling towers near the University of Illinois Abbot Power Plant at Champaign, IL.
Photographed using a Nikon F3 on Kodak Tri-X 400. Exposed at EI 1200 for developing in Diafine.

My friends on the East Coast - please stay warm! A stark contrast here - its nice and sunny in Southern California.
The Elephant seals are amazing creatures. Spotted along the Central Coast of California.
In case you didn't know, it's been pretty hot in NYC lately. The day this was taken I think the temp hit the high 90s. Don't worry, we didn't take Zucco out for long especially since he has a heart condition these days. This was his potty break and was about a block and a half away from us. We took him to a bus shelter in a shady area to give him some water to cool him off. The minute he sat on the bench, he stuck his butt out and pressed it against the cool metal/glass. Still not as good as air conditioning but it helped for a brief moment.
After soldering, let the component cool for a few seconds before letting it go. You might also want to trim off any sharp edges remaining; there are several here.
This is part of a DIY "solder your own wine charms" project; read more about it here.

The schematics of a water-cooled air conditioning system as applied in many commercial buildings. The cooling tower cools the condenser so that the chiller can generate cold water with lowest possible compressor effort. Smart cooling tower design and continuous condenser tube cleaning help minimizing electricity cost. www.watco-group.co/
