At first glance, I thought this was a dead squirrel outside my friend's front door. Turns out it's just a very hot squirrel trying to cool down by spawling on the cement :)

I spotted this casually cool looking guy while on a walk on State Street and I asked him if I could take his picture, he agreed and said "you're like the guy in New York!" I wonder if he follows @humansofny or was he a subject at one point in time? I may never know but I was grateful for him to allow me to take his portrait.
He obviously was a perfect fit for my (608)strangers album here and even though I didn't get a name, he still fits the mold to include into the 100 strangers group. Does anyone here recognize him from the "Humans of New York" project?

Here's a T-shirt advocating men solve their problems by throwing their girlfriend out the window (or through the wall). It was for sale at Kohl's, and created a stir. Kohl's took it off their website, but - Google be praised - could still be retrieved.
There is a serious problem with cool's appropriation of domestic violence of late. If you (boys) want to be cool, you need to beat your girlfriends. Or use them for your own gratification.
Cool has always been about transgression, so domestic violence-as-cool shouldn't surprise us.
Sorry Jeran I have forgotten your cat's name? What a beauty she is, lots of character pleased to meet her :)

A cool path through a "tunnel" made up of palm trees - perfect to get some relief from the hot Mauritian sun... even in the winter.

These days in Israel it's so hot! this is why i've uploaded this photo today... icecream in Cuba is one of the two most cheapest thing you can buy, the other one is pizza (but not that good pizza). In every city, all over Cuba- it's possible to buy icecream in 1CUB- which means 1/25 EURO- great price for great icecream.
there were times in Havana, i was walking from one side of the street to the other and back- so each direction i bought me one for the road... one just wasn't enough!
St James' Church at Cooling in North Kent is now in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. It dates from the late 1200s but may replace an earlier Saxon church on the same site. The nave, chancel and the lower part of the tower were built 1280 to 1320AD but the tower did not reach full height until about 1400AD.
www.flickr.com/photos/barryslemmings/sets/72157629378105780/ to see the full set.
Its fame comes from the Victorian period when novelist Charles Dickens lived at nearby Gads Hill. The church is believed to be the inspiration for the churchyard scene in Great Expectations where young Pip meets the convict Magwitch. The 13 child graves near the church door are also believed to be the inspiration for the five graves of Pip's siblings in the same book. These have since become known as 'Pip's Graves'.
Internally the 40-foot long chancel is almost the same length as the 50-foot nave. There is sign of various 19th century restorations while the wooden medieval north door is still hanging on its hinges but the doorway behind is blocked solid. The font is 13th century and probably the oldest item inside the church. The pulpit is made of 18th century material recut in the 19th century. In the chancel the south wall has a sedilia and a rare double piscina. The double piscina dates this area to 1272-1307AD.
A unique feature at Cooling is the vestry wall which is decorated with hundreds of cockle shells. This is probably Victorian and may refer to the scallop shell emblem of St James the Great. An unusual wall memorial on the wall behind the pulpit records the drowning of a seaman who fell overboard off Rio in 1852.
In Somaliland, Reinier took pictures for several stories around FGM (Female Genital Mutulation), female political participation and the advance of mobile phone technology for Dutch magazine Oneworld (www.oneworld.nl)
These rock formations just added such interest to this area!! I don't remember them being here, but it was so long ago that I don't really remember. Flathead River runs along the trees out there...I just love it out here!! Have a nice evening all!! The weather is super windy...makes it miserable to do anything outside!! :)

Mr Woodley is very proud to announce that this image featuring himself has been incorporated into a powerful short film by Dean Omori. Dean is a remarkably talented award winning film-maker based in Norwich, England.
There is a link to Dean's movie page on his Flickr profile.
Mr Woodley's image appears fleetingly towards the end of the intense, thought-provoking and perhaps slightly disturbing work entitled "A BURLESQUE OF SCHUBERTIAN BEAUTY".
Not everyone would find it easy viewing; but Mr Woodley just thinks it's cool to be a film star.
