I tried to take a cool macro shot of this fly walking up and down on the inside of my livingroom window.
As it didn't stop and wait for any of my shots they were all bad.
I had to smack it over it's head and place it on the couch to make this photo. Poor thing
Shot for the "Macro Madness" event on Facebook. Basically someone created an event where the focus for the week is macro type shots.
Tina's fingernail. She has this designed painted on them and thought it would make a cool macro shot. Thanks Tina!

I went out on a little scouting mission, looking for CA Poppies.
There are a couple of spots in Amador County that have a great abundance of the Orange beauties :)
It's apparently not quite time yet, but getting close.
Decided to take a funky back road home & happened upon some fantastic little flowers & such growing on the side of a cliff. Made for some cool Macro shots!
I found the name of this particular variety on an internet site (no surprise).

The Blue Spotted Wood Lizard is proof that scientists are creative and imaginative folk. I don’t see any blue spots. “Iridescent green lizard” I could understand. “South American Dragon” ...also understandable. “Slightly Blue Tinged Lizard If You Look Carefully”... would be accurate and entertaining. The western Amazon jungle, near the foothills of the Andes is crawling with little green dragons, but this has only recently come to light. Eight of the 15 currently known species in this genus were discovered this century. We must continue funding our creative and imaginative scientists so that they can continue discovering nature’s incredible diversity.

Taken at 100mm with an extension tube.
I burnt popcorn in the microwave yesterday. While throwing it away, I realized that if I could get past the smell, it would make a very cool macro project to test out some extension tubes that a friend loaned me.
Cone from an Australian pine. Small and awful to walk on barefoot. Picked it up and brought it home last time I was at Fort Desoto as I thought it was make a cool macro shot. Strobe on the right, silver reflector on the left.
Montana is full of grasshoppers in the summer. We would walk down the dirt road and they would hope all over the place. Mr. Rocks and I were lucky enough to create this cool macro shot of this handsome grasshopper. I would suggest going large to see all the detail in his armor.
My friend Kris showed me this awesome technique for getting extremely cool macros shots:
I took my 50mm f/1.4 lens off the body of my camera, set the aperture wide open, and held the lens backwards against the lens cavity of my camera. It produced the cool "tilt shift" effect in this photo. To focus, I simply moved my position in relation to the subject.
"Crayon"
Week 37
This week's challenge was "Choose a Color." I had wanted to find several small crayons that were the same color, but different shades and do a cool macro style shot. Unfortunately, these giant baby safe crayons are the only kind I had in the house. I did use an external flash and complimentary colors to at least attempt to make it more interesting.

Two of my kids got those "grow a pet" eggs in their stockings from Santa Claus. They were so excited about it. They got to grow their own ducks. They have since hatched out of their eggs and are still growing a bit. They are currently covered in bubbles and I thought it would make for a really cool macro.
A shot I took on a summers morning at the Botanical Gardens, Stockholm Sweden.
A hot humid morning, a little haze in the sky and there you have perfect conditions for cool macro images. As usual my images are more art than documentary shots, they are tropical in there nature and have a dreamy feel, with as always buckets of delicious Bokeh.
Techy stuff
Nikon D4 with a Nikkor 105mm micro lens and a 2x tele converter.
Day 89/365
Went to the Cherry Blossom Opening today at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. I had absolutely no idea what to expect, so I brought minimal gear figuring I'd end up with a few cool Macro Shots...
It ended up being an entirely different kind of event all together, First off it was absolutely packed... Secondly It was also Absolutely packed with photographers (Who all seemed to have very high end L Glass) and then out of no where there were People running around in Cosplay outfits, and traditional japanese garments.
I managed to catch these two girls in a much less populated area of the park, and grabbed a few quick frames.

A small interlude with my Italian photostream.
I had this cool macro shot for a while and finally decided to flickr it.
Hope you'll like it :)
A cool macro shot of the penny covered bar at Mike's Bar. This is what boredom and a new digital camera does to you.
Day 50: Wow! 50 whole days of flickr photo-a-day!!! i'm enjoying this thoroughly, sometimes it feels like homework, other times it makes me think creatively. Sometimes it bothers me that i might repeat style of photos, other times i wanna try out the technique again. It's hit or miss, but the best part is i'm doing it for myself, so no matter what, i can't screw up!
Anyways, i took this cool macro of my girlfriend's cat's nose. I like the composition and DOF as well as the exposure.
