...there are hundreds of little pieces. We have a chalkboard but never found a proper place for all the colorful chalk. Lots of dust in that drawer too which would have probably made for a cool macro shot. Ah well - too late. This week's challenge prompted me to finally collect all the loose pieces and place in a zip lock bag. Still in the junk drawer but in a pouch now. Let's see how long that lasts ; )
Macro Monday: Theme - I found this in the junk drawer
Enjoy your Monday!
so on one of the last days i was in the NL on holiday, my dear little canon870 point and shoot fell on the ground. (oh, my!!! :( ..... it still takes cool macro shots but when i am in a non-macro setting, i get the grey-brown blob you see at the bottom, right of center. when i zoom in it sometimes disappears. ~sigh~ i think i might need to see if i can get it fixed, but am not holding out a lot of hope.

Todays challenge on www.photochallenge.org/ was "Toaster"
I thought to myself how can I get an interestign shot of a toaster and then looked inside the one at work and saw the crumbs etc in it and thought that may make a cool macro, only when I loaded it on the computer at home just now did I realize how yucky it is in there,
Have a good night/Evening/Day everone
I often visit the beehives in our local botanic garden. I kneel a couple of feet away to watch them come and go and to photograph them. While this was a relatively cool day, these bees were cooling off outside the hive, something I had not seen before, even on much hotter days. And before you ask, the bees have never bothered me there.
After a long day of getting the yards ready for winter, I later opted for a nice cool glass of cider.

Work was slow today; which made the day feel that much longer. It's a pain in the butt when you're sitting in the office trying to keep yourself busy when you know there's a million things that need to get done around the house.
Oh well; at least I'm getting paid.
Another quick macro today because I find my energy and creativity are very low the last little while; this is the snow that's on my window. I thought the design made a cool macro and I had my white balance set incorrectly which gave the shot a cool blue hue, which I find appropriate for such a freezing cold day.
Hope you've all had a decent Monday.

more cool macros from yesterdays ice storm
well the fun Ravens season ended in excruciating fashion when one of the receivers dropped a touchdown pass with 25 seconds left that would have won the game - ugh!!!
I took this of rain falling on my pool at a slower shutterspeed and I think it looks like ice, apart from those little spikes where the drops are falling. (I want to learn how to do cool macro versions of water dripping.....)

An accident that turned out for a unique photo. Liquor and water on ice cubes. It was put into the freezer for chilling, but totally forgotten about. When I took it out of the freezer the tiny frozen balls were spilling over the side of the glass!
Why is it when you lend someone a lens, that's when you miss it the most??? LOL
I love my Tamron 90mm macro lens, and back in April at Roe Valley, Limavady, I used my 2x teleconverter with it.... the results were still crystal clear :)
I know the subject is a bit boring, it's just a fly and not exactly pretty, but nature is amazing :)
We've had beautiful weather here in Northern Ireland, hope you are all enjoying some sun too :)
Thank you for the fantastic comments on my last photo, I appreciate all of you so much and it's overwhelming to think that from March 2012 when I joined Flickr to today, I've reached 1,000,000 hits :)
I'm so glad my best friend talked me into buying a camera :) :) :)
For this shot, I used my 35-70mm which has a cool macro mode at 35mm. I have both the 60mm and 105mm macro lenses, but I wanted a wider field of view to capture all the colors I was enjoying. I got low enough to get some sky in the shot to add another color to the palette. Kendra was kind enough to let me borrow her new Singh-Ray LB Color Combo which really helped with the sky and overall rich colors in this shot.
So, I know it's Wednesday, and my shot has bokeh, so Happy Bokeh Wednesday everyone! I leave Thursday and will return on the 8th, so until then.

Since I've gotten so much more involved in photography I have realized I notice things I would have previously overlooked. I'm constantly looking at light now. I will often regret not having my camera with me while I'm out on a run or a bike ride. Such was the case with these Prickly Pear flowers. I passed them during one of my lunch time runs and noticed lots of bees pollinating the flowers.
"Oh, that would make for some cool macros!"
I was motivated enough to return after work and take some shots. I mentioned the plants to my other runners once we got back to our finishing point only to receive, "Huh? I didn't even notice them."
For those of you who don't live in a North American Desert, the fruits of the prickly pears are edible (as are the pads/leaves). Both are rich in soluble fibers. Just be careful when picking the fruit, because even they have very tiny spines.
All these delightful little wildflowers fit into a one ounce shotglass. Isn't that cool? Macro bouquet.
A pollen coated honey bee works a flower. Under the shadowy petals to the fore and left is a tiny crab spider that I didn't see while taking the shot. Cool! Macro photography can be so fun!

My daughter found this little dude on the ceiling. Great opportunity for a cool macro shot! Pretty excited about it.

Kinda cool macro shot of a single fly. It was in the alps, near an old watermill in roughly 1500m above sea level.
The insect world in these heights is surprisingly good.
Almost on every flower sat a bee, fly or other insect (like my spider shot)
This picture was shot with the standart kit lens from my Panasonic G70. It“s surprising of what this lens is capable of.
