I shot this picture by handholding the 50mm with the front-end to the filter of my 70-200 f4 L getting this extremely small depth of field, but also a pretty cool macro functionality. There are some other pictures as well, check the set!
Surprise visitor to the porch swing this morning. Sitting there with the poodle and coffee, wow a visitor. Have never seen one of the green frogs before. Definitely a cute little guy. Anyone know the name, anyway some cool macro's as a result.

Saw this rusting & cracking fire hydrant on a walk thought it would make for a cool macro shot turned out pretty good I think!? Older photo by the way lol
I have seen some cool macro shots involving matches, so i thought i would give it a go. let me tell you know that it is a heck of a lot harder than you might think. This was the only one that turned out reasonably well. I think with a bit more experimentation i could get some shots that i want.

This may look like a cool macro shot, but don't be fooled. I actually shot about forty shots of that bee in continuous shutter with my normal lens, only to decide that the flowers around it were ugly and the shots were wasted. So I cropped out just the bee and called it a macro. I probably could've done better if I'd had my telephoto then.

Well after my Dad got in a fight with a lawn mower and it won a week ago I was being all the more cautious around all the landscape workers at our apartment complex. And God Bless them when one of the ride-a-long mower's passed by our apt it chucked rocks at our sliding door!!! THANK GOD for it being double pained, and for my son and I not to have been sitting right next to it when it happened. But hey I got some cool macro pics so I guess its all good eh...lol

I made this quite a few years ago. It is hanging in my entry way and I thought it would make a cool macro shot since you lose the dots as you move further away.
Taken with a 50mm lens and extension tubes.
I burnt popcorn in the microwave yesterday. While throwing it away, I realized that if I could get past the smell, it would make a very cool macro project to test out some extension tubes that a friend loaned me.

Today we went shark tooth hunting. Believe it or not, Wyoming used to be a part of an inland sea called the Western Inland Seaway. There were sharks. Most people don't believe me but here is a page. If you find the right areas, you'll find deposits of shells, ammonites, and shark teeth by the boatload, since sharks lose hundreds of teeth in their lifetime. Once upon a time my Dad also found a two-foot portion of Mosasaur tail (a sort of Cretaceous alligator).
Long story short, I hope to do some cool macro-type shots with our findings soon.
