Wrens are unusual in that the male does all the nest building, often building several for the female to choose which she prefers. For such a tiny bird they have a very loud birdsong.

Bedruthan became a popular destination when Newquay developed as a holiday resort more than 100 years ago. Victorians visiting in their carriages found it a convenient attraction, and the local farmer responded to this interest by providing stalls for the horses on payment of a toll.
The dramatic views rarely fail to provide a breathtaking experience. The geology of the cliffs and stacks themselves is intriguing and it's easy to visit without realising that there's a history of mining in the area dating back to the 19th century.
Carnewas was a hive of industrial activity in the 19th century although not much is known of the mining that took place there. It is supposed that miners tunnelled into the cliffs from the beach in search of iron, copper and lead. Mining stopped many years ago, but the buildings are a reminder of this industry. The National Trust shop was once the count house or mine office and the café was also converted from mine buildings.

Queda prohibido no sonreír a los problemas, no luchar por lo que quieres, abandonarlo todo por miedo, no convertir en realidad tus sueños.

It can only prohibited not to smile at the problems, to to fight for what you want, for to leave everything for fear, to turn actually your dreams.
From this angle, taken down beside the Tamar River, one can see immediately the origins of this hotel. These grain silos stored wheat that was shipped out of Launceston during the time when its shipping industry still functioned. Today, of course, visitors to Launceston find it hard to imagine that this was once Tasmania's biggest industrial port. The Tamar is silting up (the subject for another discussion), King's Wharf is dilapidated, and this land was left as a flood prone swamp.
But local business interests, the Peppers Hotel chain, and clever architectural design, have not only revitalised the old structure, but turned this whole seaport precinct into a hive of activity.
A stones throw from my house, couldn't resist taking a shot of the reflections, converted to B&W as the colour wasn't great. You don't have to travel far to get some great shots!
We saw this great mill conversion at Reedham Ferry, what a great place to live!

A project by Ildefons Cerdà and another by Josep Amargós in 1894 proposed to convert Montjuïc into a residential area. Another idea for the celebration of the exhibition in Montjuïc was proposed in 1909 when Manuel Vega i March suggested that the culminating point of the development should be ‘a great Temple of Art, a summary and compendium of our most prodigious knowledge’. Finally, in 1913, it was decided that Montjuïc would be the definite location for the Exhibition of Electric Industries, promoted by the industry and the city council of Barcelona.
I converted the image to bw and then had Photoshop recolourize it (neural filters). I will embed both original photos -- colour and bw -- in the Comment section. It got many colours very close but not the truck itself. It was better than I expected.

Apologies for showing yet another squirrel picture but it's been raining all day, so the opportunities were rather limited.
Decided to show off my ingenuity of converting the bird stand into a squirrel stand. Also, I love that tree as a backdrop.
An old salmon fishery in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It has been converted into holiday apartments - a sign of our shifting economic tides.

For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

To create the impression of time travel I have not used a zoom blur (impossible with the Panasonic DMC-TZ40). This picture is the result of processing multiple exposures (none of which in themselves are blurred images). I hope we can imagine what it was like at Cape Bruny back in 1836.

This image is from a recent walk using my infrared camera at Lindo Lake in Lakeside, California. It has the elements I look for in Infrared photography - sky with clouds, vegetation and water.
I used NIK Software's Silver Efex Pro 2 to conver the image to black and white. I have an album with over 200 black and white images in my cleverly titled Black And White Album.

Grandpa was always a little eccentric and when he purchased a run down city tram and converted it into a Weiner Wagon the whole family thought he had lost his marbles. Gramps is dead now and you are the lucky owner of his hot dog tram. To your surprise, it turns a profit and is a favorite with locals. Needless to say you are the envy of your cousins who inherited his toenail clipping museum.... not nearly as popular a location...
The Converted Tram is available at ECLIPSE
