I spent a few hours last weekend converting my old D70 to be an infrared camera. This involved changing the hotmirror that sits in front of the sensor.
The photo above is the hotmirror covering the sensor within the D70. The standard hotmirror was removed and replaced with a hotmirror that does not allow visible light to pass (black to the eye) and only allows infrared frequency ranges through to the sensor.

The Vivitar has a strange mount in pre-AI state. The ring *almost* fits but just barely comes in contact with the metering prong. It needed barely 1mm grinded off to safely clear the prong.
Conversely, there's not enough material to activate the prong. Extra modification is required in the form of adding metal. And here it is!
Man, I'm happy about this. I've missed my 2 favorite MF lenses.
