My old pal and I messing, trying out shots, and I came away with this image of his Gibson Les Paul which I like. I am drawn to the burnished colours partially, but primarily to the solid engineering excellence of it. I took the shot with the intention of a mono conversion which I did, and I like, but I couldn't deny those colours!

L’immaginario, la dimensione estetica e parte dell’iconografia, scelta dagli artisti per l’opera, fanno riferimento a temi religiosi di un passato, probabilmente rinascimentale.
L’effetto è molto interessante: entrando nella chiesa sembra di avere a che fare con un restauro in atto ( effetto attribuibile alle impalcature ) e contemporaneamente con l’olografica presenza di fantasmi, dovuta a la rete plastica che struttura l’opera.
Il tema centrale, che tratta con ironia della nuova fede tecnologica rivolta all’uso della rete (e segnatamente di facebook), è un po’ trito e rischia di rendere banale un lavoro formalmente molto suggestivo
This shot was done by using a plastic holder for remote controllers, placed it side way against a glass table, place the audio cable in it, shone a LED light on the top to create that flare on table.
End result not that bad with reflections that added some interestingness in the shot.
Did you enjoy the snow? I know it can be frustrating being around this much snow but it can also be very interesting. We spent last few days running around chasing snow and I got exhausted, so much that I needed 2 days to get back in the mood to edit some of these images. What do you think?
New Zion Methodist Church, Sabine County, near Geneva, Texas
Seeing a sign for a cemetery, and wanting to get out and stretch my legs, I turned down a dirt lane. It was a bit further than planned, but eventually I came upon an old church with a nearby graveyard. More on this to come.
NS 4002 and 4004, the newest DC to AC conversions to hit the road, head west along BNSF's Mendota Subdivision at the old bridge west of Galva, IL.
I almost got completely screwed by the GALBRC, but thankfully they had baretables bringing up the rear. I almost didn't spend some PTO on these, but I thought they wouldn't be paired up forever and this may have been my only shot. Glad I did!

The out building at this old farm on the fells above Grosmont on the North Yorkshire Moors has been converted into a dwelling.
The old roller would be use for rolling grass and hidden in the vegetation I believe is a drag for spreading mole hills

Tanker cars sidetracked beneath a dramatic prairie sky. This is the final black and white conversion for now; starting tomorrow I'll be back in the colourful world.
I made this shot while driving home via secondary roads, with several scheduled stops to add images for a magazine story I'm working on with my friend Judith. However, this had nothing to do with the story - in fact, very little of what I shot was connected to the story: you have to work with the light you get, and prairie skies were on display that afternoon.
Converting to black and white increased the drama, as the sun was still high in a very bright sky. I was then able to increase contrast in the sky without worrying about a colour shift or producing an unreal-looking dark blue. Black and white by definition is a departure from reality. In the old days of film I would have used a red filter to darken the blues.

MKM Museum Küppersmühle, Duisburg, Germany.

A grain mill was erected in 1860 on the site of the present Museum Küppersmühle by industrialist Wilhelm Vedder, one of the founding fathers of Duisburg’s Inner Harbour. The mill closed down in 1972.
The conversion of the grain mill into the Küppersmühle Museum was completed in 1999.

Shadows fall across the mountain landscape while wispy clouds play in the heavens.
Committed to expired Ilford FP4+ using a Hasselblad X-pan and 45 mm lens and red filter. Developed Ars-Imago FD as standard and scanned using an Epson V850 using Silverfast. Positive conversion and levels done with Negative Lab Pro.
Freshly repainted into DB "Verkehrsrot" following attention at Toton TMD, the ex-works 66653 'Barry Needham' heads through the snowy landscape at Red Bank with 6E26 1051 Knowsley Freight Terminal to Wilton.
Formerly 66194, conversion to 66653 entailed an increase in haulage capacity and reduction in maximum speed to 60mph. Supposedly due to the success of the project, another batch has been authorised to take the number series up to 66665.

This image was taken at Ogwen Valley, Looking out from Cwm Idwal to Pen yr Ole Wen. When I took this image, I knew it had the possibility of being a black and white, more so that colour as the patches of blue sky were quite strong. One of the aspects of black and white photography I love is being able to get that blue sky, jet black.

Possibly the largest semaphore operation remaining on the Indian metre gauge lines is Pilibhit East Signal Box. Located at the "business" end of the station and controlling routes out to Tanakpur, Mailani Junction and Shajahanpur, as well as a level crossing and access to the carriage sidings and maintenance area, there's rarely an idle moment during the day.
In comparison to boxes in the UK these are pretty rudimentary regards additional technology and what you see is pretty well what you get. Throwing the levers takes some effort too and here the signalman is giving some welly (or rather sandal) returning lever 56 to its normal position.
Catch this while you can - the scene will change forever in a few months when gauge conversion starts in earnest.
