Objective 2: Creative Exposure
The camera mode (P, Tv, Av, M) and why I chose it: Av because I wanted to be able to control how much of the picture would be in focus and how crisp it would be.
f stop used and why: f/4.5 because I wanted the shovel and the dirt infront of the shovel to be nice and crisp to give that outdoorsy kind of look.
shutter speed used and why: 1/50 of a second because the light outside was very diffused and soft, and not very bright so it didn't need to be very fast.
ISO used and why: ISO 200 because I was outside and the lighting and the movement allowed me to stay within the 100-200 range.
Exposure compensation and why it was used: I didn't use any exposure compensation because the light was really good outside; it had just stopped raining and everything looked crisp and perfect.
Focal length and why: 25.0mm because I didn't want the shovel to be distorted but I wasn't going for a close-up, either.
Objective 3: Elements and Principles of Design
The principles of design demonstrated (describe the use): in this picture, there is unity/harmony. There is nothing that is distracting the eye, and everything has an 'outdoor' theme. The shovel is not out of place among the woodchips, and the little piece of tarp in the corner also isn't taking away from the picture.
The elements of design demonstrated (describe the use): there is a lot of texture in this picture. I emphasized the picture more to give it more texture and a rougher look.
Objective 5: Post Production (ex. dust/spot removal, contrast, white balance, sharpening, borders, etc.)
Corrections/adjustments made: I adjusted the curves and the levels of this picture to give it a rougher, outdoorsier look. I also resized it, sharpened it and added a border.
