This painting is an example of a continuous narrative, which tells a story in a single frame. The artist used linear perspective, a mathematical method for creating an illusion of three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface. The castle tower in the very rear of the painting is the vanishing point where all of the orthogonals meet. All of the buildings are perfectly aligned with the vanishing point, creating a perfect illusion of space. This type of realistic painting, where math and science are applied to create an overall "real" look, was very prevalent during the Italian Renaissance.

Valley Bronze of Oregon has been in continuous production at its foundry facility located on W. Alder Street in Joseph, Oregon, since 1982. Starting as a small bronze art casting facility serving local artists with less than a dozen employees, Valley Bronze added a monument facility in 1987, with the extra space, ceiling height, and equipment to accommodate larger bronze sculptures and major art casting and fabrication projects.
Valley Bronze maintains a fine art gallery on Main Street in Joseph, Oregon featuring sculptures by a variety of artists, many of whose works are cast at Valley Bronze's foundry facilities. In addition to sculpture, the gallery proudly exhibit paintings and prints by nationally and internationally known artists.
Vallet Bronze offers a tour of the foundry on week days, but unfortunately not on weekends when we visited Joseph.
The statue in front of the foundry is unnamed.

Marble.
From Bassae.
Carved marble block from the East side of the continuous frieze of the temple of Apollo Epikourios at Bassai. The East and South frieze shows the battle between Amazons and the Greeks which was led by Herakles.
On the left of the block a Greek makes a fierce attack on an enemy represented on an adjacent block, probably block 534. His sword is raised above his head for a blow. In the centre a raging battle between a Greek and Amazon is shown. The Greek, seen from the rear, covers himself with his shield and draws back for a spear thrust. The Amazon, a fine garment clings to her body and her skirt stretched horizontally, also thrusts a spear. Her shield is on her left arm. To the right an Amazon, just wounded, shown right at the moment of collapsing, falls to the ground with relaxed limbs. The block consists of a part that is in the British Museum and a plaster cast, the original of which is in the National Archaeological Museum, Athens (inv.no. NM 4768).
