The Heat Volleyball Academy 11-U Red Team – Making Laredo history, this incredible team has earned a coveted spot to compete in the 2025 USA Volleyball National Championship in Kansas City, Missouri. As the only team from Laredo in their age group to reach this level, they will proudly represent our city on the national stage—a momentous achievement built on dedication, teamwork, and countless hours of training.
Miss Laredo Teen USA 2025 – Niali Mahtani – Representing Laredo with grace and confidence, Niali earned a Top 5 placement at the 2025 Miss Texas Teen USA pageant, inspiring local youth with her poise and commitment to excellence.
Miss Laredo USA 2025 – Megan Jackson – Demonstrating elegance and ambition, Megan proudly placed in the Top 15 at the 2025 Miss Texas USA pageant, further elevating Laredo’s presence in statewide competitions.
Council Member Ricardo “Richie” Rangel and Council Member Dr. Tyler King led the recognitions, spotlighting remarkable talent, perseverance, and hometown spirit
John B. Alexander High School Baseball Team – Recognized for an extraordinary season, the team claimed titles as Outright District Champs, Bi-District Champs, Area Champs, and reached the Regional Semi-Finals, showcasing grit, discipline, and passion for the game.
Andrew De Leon, Senior Varsity Baseball Player at Alexander HS – A multi-year standout athlete, Andrew was celebrated for a long list of honors, including:
• 2022 Newcomer of the Year
• 2023 District MVP & 1st Team All-State (1st Base)
• 2024 Pitcher of the Year
• 2025 District 30-6A MVP
• Selected to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association 6A-5A South All-Star Team

Guyanese-American service members on board the USS Iwo Jima had a chance to reunite with family members during their deployment to Guyana.
