I took a few photos of a moon flower last night, this one is on manual with the camera settings at shutter speed 30 aperture 2.8 and ISO 400. Is it better to use the flash to darken the background and illuminate the flower or allow natural light to work its magic?

I've always found construction sites to be very interesting. I guess it's the idea of building something out of nothing that appeals to me. Of course, being process-oriented, I've always wondered exactly what the step by step process is in building these huge structures. Anyone willing to give me a high level process overview? ;-)
