Spotted this fellow on Bayer's Road where they are doing work on the Petro Canada station near Bayer's Rd Shopping Centre.
Harry Bagherzadeh and Steve Stanford of Griffin Dewatering discuss the installation and layout of a dewatering system. Harry Bagherzadeh is a Graduate of Penn State with a PHD in Agricultural Engineering. Steve Stanford has experience overseeing installation of dewatering systems for over several decades.
A city like this doesn't get built alone. It takes the effort and sweat of lots of men. Today, here's my tribute to them.
"The red ladder"

In his letters from Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Bill wrote that parcels of 100 acres were cleared in 1943 for warehouses and barracks like this one for the thousands of workers building the Alaska Highway. All those men (they were all men) needed supplies, clothing, tools, equipment, water, electricity, fuel and food, thousands of tons of it, and places to sleep.
In a letter from Dawson Creek dated April 28, 1943, Bill described the barracks. “The building, which includes the kitchen, dining room storage and two bunk rooms, is about 180 feet (55m) long by 20 feet (6m) wide… The storage and recreation room is 20 feet, then the dining room which seats 56 at 7 tables, the kitchen, and then a lean-to that is for storage and the ice box. The three cooks [Bill was one of them at the time] have their bunks separate and there are eight of us in this part.”

Anyone living in Bracknell is well aware of the town centre regeneration which is taking place. Our new town will be ready next autumn.
Much has been said about the new buildings and shops but very little about the huge army of builders, construction workers, electricians, plumbers and labourers who are actually putting the pieces in place.
This set is about these guys - The Regeneration Men.

Have Singaporeans forgotten that these foreign workers are the ones who take on jobs that we do not fill? Have we forgotten that foreign workers are humans too? Comments such as “they stare at us” and “give them an isolated area” all point towards an idea of social exclusion and marginalisation. However, this sense of xenophobia is acute because it does not apply to all foreigners in Singapore, but particularly to blue-collar workers. These workers are often viewed as inferior, a public nuisance or threat.
This leaves us to re-think the notion that Singapore is indeed a multi-cultural society.

Construction worker building timber shoring to support the formwork on which fresh concrete will be poured. He is using a spirit level to make sure the formwork will be completely horizontal. He is also using nylon wire for alignment.
