The benefits of a full body massage:
Reduce swelling
Did you know that massages can reduce swelling? Yes, though pressure is applied on the muscles around the swelled part, applying proper techniques can put back the fluids required in that area.
Solution to constipation
Unhealthy food habits and lack of exercise can often lead to constipation leading to headaches, uneasiness, insomnia and pain. Massages improve digestion and absorb nutrients better.
Enhances blood circulation
During massage therapy all the stiffened muscles are relaxed by applying comfortable pressure on the body. This helps the circulatory system to pump oxygen into tissues, organs, improve blood flow, remove impurities from the muscles and reduces blood pressure.
Stress buster
Everybody experiences stress in some or the other way. If you cannot find a solution to tackle it, you should know that massages are the best stress busters. They are very relaxing and at the same time relax your painful muscles, improve your mood and prevent diseases.
Rejuvenate
A good massage that uses aroma therapy with warm essential oils and lotions; soft and gentle music- when combined together relaxes and rejuvenates your senses giving you a good feeling at the end of it. The sleep during therapy is relaxing like never before. A good scent of the aroma therapy essential oils, warm body lotions and serene music relaxes.
Clients told us that the beautiful masseuses make sure the massage is not only healthy but also highly enjoyable...

The Former Spris Awaiting a New Owner
Okay, this is an old photo from the archives; June of 2011. Spris was gone, leaving Constitution Plaza without a restaurant on the Plaza level. 10 CP was once again abandoned, prospective new management stymied by the legal requirement that restaurants in Hartford must have street-level exits to meet the fire code.

Man was not meant to merely observe vast expanses of sandstone. The Holy Rock must be touched in a significant manner, as I am doing here. A life devoid of such encounters is a life without significance.
I follow the teachings of the Bhagwan Hotair Windbag of Antelope, who preaches the importance of uniting with sandstone in an effort to reach a higher plane of existence. The journey to Awareness is difficult and time-consuming, but I have made it my life's goal to become One With The Rock. In this scene I am pressing my body against a truly vast expanse of sandstone in Arches National Park. The site is on the plateau forming the west wall of Park Avenue.
After 7.1 hours in this position---without moving in the slightest---I felt a wondrous sense of rejuvenation and was able to talk to a black hole in a parallel universe. To my dismay, the effort was tainted by celestial constipation, as any replies from the black hole could not get out.
This documentation would not have been possible without the sacred assistance of my photographic sidekick, Joe Tripod. The only spiritual thing he relates to is a spirit level.

It massages the abdominal organs alleviating digestive ailments and constipation.
It tones the spinal nerves, makes the back flexible and realigns rounded shoulders. The nerves in the neck, the thyroid and parathyroid glands are particularly stimulated.
The rib-cage is stretched and expanded fully, which helps to fill the lungs to its maximum capacity and bringing more oxygen into the system.
It is beneficial for those suffering from asthma, bronchitis and other lung ailments.
It loosens up the legs and strengthens them in preparation for sitting in meditation asanas.
It enhances creativity and intelligence as it increases the circulation in the brain.
This asana stretches the back muscles and separates the individual vertebrae from each other, releasing pressure on the discs.
Often nerve connections emanating from the spinal cord are squeezed by these discs, giving rise to various forms of backache. This posture helps to relieve this problem and encourages the discs to resume their correct position.
It regulates the functioning of the adrenal glands.
It tones the pelvic muscles and the sciatic nerves and is beneficial for women who have an underdeveloped pelvis.
It helps to alleviate disorders of both the male and female reproductive organs.

Pumpkin is believed to be very good for cats. It is supposed to be great for helping prevent or to treat hairballs - it is low in calories and high in fibre. It is also purported to be good for treating diarrhea and/or constipation. I have been giving my cats pumpkin about once a week for over a year now. I am planning to increase their portion to twice a week.
When I do a new batch of pumpkin, I freeze it in ice cube trays. Once the pumpkin is frozen, I transfer it to plastic bags to help it stay fresh longer. Then I defrost a cube whenever I plan to feed the cats their pumpkin. I mix the pumpkin into their soft cat food that is their daily evening treat. At first the cats didn't care for it, but now they seem to not mind it and some of the cats even like it.
One other thing, if you try this be careful not to buy pumpkin pie mix. The cans look similar if you aren't paying attention and pie mix has sugar and other stuff in that is not so good for cats. I actually made this mistake recently and soon I will be baking up a nice pumpkin pie. I can't let it go to waste now, can I?

A wild riot of colour as thousands celebrate London's Gay Pride Parade 2011. London 02.07.2011
This Saturday July 2nd 2011 saw the explosion of colour and fabulous carnival/cabaret fancy-dress which is the annual Gay Pride parade passing through the packed London streets as many Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender groups representing special interest campaigning groups, trade unions, the armed forces, police service, christian groups and several of London's gay bars and clubs celebrated their sexuality and diversity, watched and cheered on by tens of thousands of enthusiastic members of the public.
The days celebrations were purposefully snubbed by London mayor Boris Johnson much to the anger and irritation of many, since Mr. Johnson is expected to show support for all Londoners. However, his greatest opponent in the upcoming mayoral elections, former London Mayor Ken Livingstone was to be seen - as always - at the head of the parade, accompanied by human and gay rights activist Peter Tatchell.
Gone was the nervous tension of the original trail-blazing Gay Pride marches of the late 1970's and early 80's, as a new generation of gay people enjoy far greater public acceptance of their lifestyle in what feel like more enlightened times. What is taken for granted now was fought for in the past by courageous activists and their political supporters who wanted to see an end to the homophobic bigotry and institutionalised discrimination which used to be the universal public position towards them.
Having said that, there was a demonstration set up at the bottom of Waterloo Place by a group of so-called Christians from the Baptist Church - some of whom looked like they had been time-warped directly from the 1950's, complete with emotional constipation - who spent the entire afternoon insulting and demeaning all gay people and anyone who accepts homosexuality as a part of the enormously wide spectrum of human sexuality by cherry-picking snippets from the Bible completely without proper context, and generally showing themselves up to be nothing more than a bunch of hate-filled bigots who hilariously claim to love the people they were standing there belittling.
My photos of the Baptists and the crowd's reactions to being assaulted by the pious abuse are already uploaded in my set "Baptists preach intolerance at Gay Pride Parade".
After the parade made its way from Portland Place to Trafalgar Square, the marchers and bystanders alike dispersed into Soho for some serious street partying which lasted late into the night. There was a main stage in Trafalgar Square which hosted a long rosta of minor-league pop and dance acts during the afternoon, though oddly this year there were no big-name headliners, and another Dance Stage in Soho Square which featured a great line-up of club DJs.

Chelone glabra flowering along the Boone Fork creek near the Blue Ridge Parkway. They love moist soil along streams and can be found in wetlands. They get their name from the shape of the flowers resembling a turtle's head. This plant is the primary host of the Baltimore Checkerspot Butterfly caterpillars and food plant to some other insects, as well as popular with browsing deer. It has many uses in folk medicine under the name of "Balmony." It is used as an appetite stimulant, laxative, liver tonic and to expel worms. An ointment is used as an itch-reliever. Native Americans used it to treat skin diseases and constipation and also believed it could prolong life, due to its resemblance to the long-lived turtles.
Low-carb diets have become more popular than ever seen before. Cut down on your carbohydrates and eat more protein is what we hear all the time. The question is whether it works and what consequences it has for the body. If you are also hoping for one of the many low-carb diets, then you might want to read here and see what the latest research in the area is about. Woman with belly fat 1 A low-fat diet is better than low-carb diets for fat loss Low-carb is perhaps best for weight loss, but low fat is better for fat loss. Confused? Research shows that low-fat diets give a greater fat loss on the body than low-carb diets. Loss on the body is generally better for your health. Calorie Calorie, lowering fat in the diet, rather than limiting carbohydrates, causes a greater fat loss. The research thus rejects the claim that limiting carbohydrates is necessary for loss of body fat. Fat loss should be the most important objective for those people who want to lose weight. (1) 2 Low-carb diets damage your heart Low-carb diets damage your heart health and increase the risk of heart disease and early death by up to 50%. Research shows that low-carb diets eventually impair the function of our arteries, cause clogged arteries and cause poorer blood flow to the heart. People on low-carb diets replace carbohydrates with proteins, thus giving the increased risk of heart problems. (2) In addition, studies on mice show that those living for a low protein and high cold-reduced diet live about 50% longer than those on low-carb and high protein diet. (3) A study from Harvard University showed that mice that lived for 12 weeks on low-carb diet showed a significant increase in atherosclerosis, building plaque on the arteries in the heart which is the main cause of heart attack and stroke. The study also showed that low-carb diets reduce the body's ability to form new blood vessels. (4) 3 Low-carb cures make you sad and stressed! Has the lump just suddenly become a bit shorter? And releases patience faster? So the answer may be that the body lacks carbohydrates. A group of researchers from Australia followed 160 people on diet for a year. Half of them had to eat carbohydrates, and the rest lived after a low-carb cure. It turned out that after a year, the carbohydrate-eating people were both happier, quieter, less stressed and more focused, compared to the group living after the low-carb principle. The reason for this is that carbohydrates raise mood, trigger stress-reducing chemicals in the brain, how much protein and fatty foods break them down. (5) (6) 4 Low-carb diets make you fatier, not thinner! Low-carb cure can lead to stress and depression. The body has a natural need for carbohydrates. If you live after the low-carb principle, hormone changes occur in the body that can lead to weight gain and fatigue because the body becomes stressed. When the body is stressed, high levels of hormones like Kortisol are produced. Cortisol increases your appetite and can lead to sudden overeating at a meal. (7) (8) (9) 5 Low-carb diets are not durable! It is one thing to follow a low-carb diet for six weeks or 6 months. It's a whole different story if you're going to follow it for a lifetime. Studies have shown that it is much harder to follow a low-carb diet than a high-carb diet. After all, it's basically true that you do not eat too many calories during a day. Harvard University has conducted a study where they followed 320 people on diet. After a year, only 75% of the people on the low-carb diet still followed the cure whereas 90% of the people on the high-carb diet were still strong and followed their diet plan to the point. 6 Low-carb diets give you bloated stomach! Do you think it's the carbohydrates that you can not snap your pants? Then you can think again. According to the National Institute of Digestive Diseases, bloated stomach is a symptom of constipation. Just constipation is a fairly common side effect of a low-carb diet. The study showed that 70% of the participants on a low-carb diet suffered from bloated stomach and constipation. That figure was 30%, with those who followed a high-carb diet. Doctor Arne Astrup, a Danish expert in obesity, concludes that headache, muscle weakness, diarrhea and constipation are common side effects of a low-carb diet such as, for example, Atkins. He states that these side effects may indicate that low-carb diets are not healthy in the long run. 7 People on Low-carb diets, feel cheated! People who follow a Low-carb diet often fall because they miss their carbohydrates. A study, conducted by the University of Toronto, followed 100 women on low-carb and high-carb diets, respectively. After three days, both groups were tested for breakfast where they could eat what they wanted. The group of low-carb diets plumped with calorie and fat-containing empty coal
I'm in a jerk mood and I can't seem to shake it. Call it artistic constipation or whatever but it sucks. A couple shots of Kahlua left over from NYE in my coffee this morning didn't help. I may just switch to straight rum for breakfast. That seems to help just about any mood I'm in. Still, here I am on day two of my "photo of the day" project...
Big fucking deal, right? Yeah, I agree. Most times I feel these types of projects are an exercise in ego masturbation. I'm not going to lie, this one is as well. But, like all good spankings, this one may have some good truth nuggets hidden in the rum soaked ramblings of yours truly.
Just to clarify, if any good comes of my observations it is not by any fault of my own. I may just stumble upon them as I struggle to make it from one day to the next. You see, it's my understanding that I drink too much, smoke, and travel to places that most people want to avoid. I'm not sure why I do this. I think at some level I want to know why I'm so lucky and others are not. Not that I feel guilty, I just want to know. That probably makes me even a bigger jerk.
The ice in my drink has melted, it's time for bed. I've seen one to many good men loose their minds without the help of good booze or high powered drugs. Hell, even the evil bastards can become poets with the help of a few gin martinis. Richard Nixon, an evil bastard if there ever was one, once said "A man is not finished when he is defeated. He is finished when he quits." Of course, then the fucker wiped his ass with the American flag and quit.
Well, here's to you Mr. President...
