A wild riot of colour as thousands celebrate London's Gay Pride Parade 2011. London 02.07.2011
This Saturday July 2nd 2011 saw the explosion of colour and fabulous carnival/cabaret fancy-dress which is the annual Gay Pride parade passing through the packed London streets as many Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender groups representing special interest campaigning groups, trade unions, the armed forces, police service, christian groups and several of London's gay bars and clubs celebrated their sexuality and diversity, watched and cheered on by tens of thousands of enthusiastic members of the public.
The days celebrations were purposefully snubbed by London mayor Boris Johnson much to the anger and irritation of many, since Mr. Johnson is expected to show support for all Londoners. However, his greatest opponent in the upcoming mayoral elections, former London Mayor Ken Livingstone was to be seen - as always - at the head of the parade, accompanied by human and gay rights activist Peter Tatchell.
Gone was the nervous tension of the original trail-blazing Gay Pride marches of the late 1970's and early 80's, as a new generation of gay people enjoy far greater public acceptance of their lifestyle in what feel like more enlightened times. What is taken for granted now was fought for in the past by courageous activists and their political supporters who wanted to see an end to the homophobic bigotry and institutionalised discrimination which used to be the universal public position towards them.
Having said that, there was a demonstration set up at the bottom of Waterloo Place by a group of so-called Christians from the Baptist Church - some of whom looked like they had been time-warped directly from the 1950's, complete with emotional constipation - who spent the entire afternoon insulting and demeaning all gay people and anyone who accepts homosexuality as a part of the enormously wide spectrum of human sexuality by cherry-picking snippets from the Bible completely without proper context, and generally showing themselves up to be nothing more than a bunch of hate-filled bigots who hilariously claim to love the people they were standing there belittling.

After the parade made its way from Portland Place to Trafalgar Square, the marchers and bystanders alike dispersed into Soho for some serious street partying which lasted late into the night. There was a main stage in Trafalgar Square which hosted a long rosta of minor-league pop and dance acts during the afternoon, though oddly this year there were no big-name headliners, and another Dance Stage in Soho Square which featured a great line-up of club DJs.

Cynometra cauliflora L. Fabaceae. CN: [Malay and regional vernacular names - Namnam, Namu-namu, Kopi anjing, Puki anjing, Anjing-anjing, Amphawa, Nang-ai, Hima, Katak puru, Salah nama]. The Latin name was given based on the local vernacular names but due to the obscenity the name "Salah nama" (literally translated as "Wrong name") was coined. Wonder how the weird obscene local names associating with dogs and even with frogs came about. Plant is indigenous to the northern states of Peninsular Malaysia. Fruits edible and tasted sour to sour-sweet with traces of astringent when fully ripen. Good for relieving constipation to kick the stubborn turds out. Flower and fruit cauliflory meaning flowers and fruits that develop on short lateral shoots arising from the main trunk and limbs.

Low Calcium Levels Contribute to Disease There are many medical conditions linked to calcium deficiency. Examples include: Corticosteroids -- these are commonly used for control of pain and inflammation. Some steroids are used to treat chronic fatigue, chronic muscle pain, and inflammatory joint pain. Additionally, some steroids are used in the treatment of asthma. Antacid medications -- these drugs are commonly used to treat gastric reflux, heartburn, and indigestion. Examples include Nexium, Tagamet, Tums, and Rolaids. These prescription and over the counter medications suppress and interfere with stomach acid production. Calcium requires acid to be absorbed properly. Sometimes people take Tums with calcium to as a calcium supplement. I have had patients whose doctors actually recommended this! Bad advice -- Don't take antacids for a source of dietary calcium. Foods High In Calcium Despite popular belief, milk and dairy products are not a necessity for calcium in the diet. Foods rich in calcium are kale, broccoli, turnip greens, mustard greens, collards, figs, salmon, sardines, arugula, spinach, kelp, bone marrow and broth, and citrus fruits. High Quality Gluten Free Calcium When you have the need for calcium supplementation, you have to be careful not to take excessive calcium without magnesium, because doing so can contribute to magnesium deficiency. Additionally, it is important to ensure that your vitamin D levels are normal as calcium absorption is low when vitamin D is deficient. Many supplements have been found to contain gluten cross contamination.

Today's topic: Bad posture as a cause of constipation
In days past poor posture was a sign that you lacked manners, education and respectability.
Today, poor posture is a sign that you have a smart phone, a computer and constipation.
Many people sit all day long and for large portions of the day are looking at some kind of screen. If this sounds like you, you know that living and working like this leads to many kinds of pain and soreness.
It also leads to being overly stimulated and overly stressed. Then add the physical pressure put on your intestines from sitting slumped over and the next time you feel like you gotta go you discover that you can't go.
The good news is you can do something about it. Turn off the phone, move around and correct your posture.
Correcting your posture will help you look better, feel better and poop better.

A 55 year old female with chronic constipation found to have a solitary rectal ulcer, just proximal to the anal verge.
The construction of the cathedral of today started in 1196, about 150 years later, the church may have been completed, but a massive addition of the cathedral was planned in 1339.
It would have more than doubled the size of the structure and so it would have been larger than (old) Saint Peter in Rome. This cathedral was never completed.
The interior of the Duomo is rather stunning, with black-and-white striped pillars and ornate decoration on every surface. The pavement of Cathedral features etched and inlaid marble panels created from 1372 to 1547.
This elephant symbolizes Rome (see the complete picture on the previous uplaod). Is this a "medieval elephant" . or one of the first "modern elephants"?
Hanno was an Indian elephant given to Pope Leo X by King Manuel I of Portugal. Hanno reached Rome in 1514 and became a favourite of the papal court and was featured in processions. Hanno was very popular - and died two years later from complications of a treatment for constipation with gold-enriched laxative.
The elephant seen here is very precise - maybe this is indeed Hanno.

She was a German girl who married when very young. Her much older husband died leaving her with a family. She eventually became an anchoress and led of life of prayer, mortification and silence.

The girls and us repeated so many lines from that movie during our stay in the big city. Many people warned us and were concerned about bringing them to NYC. In the end, it seems that for them it was just a larger version of Chicago. We visit Chicago every year (along with almost weekly trips to Montreal), so they were already familiar with how life in the city can be like and how they have to behave.
Grand Central Terminal was our portal to the city. So we quickly became quite familiar with it. Having a coffee or supper downstairs along with many of the homeless people; making pitstops in their restrooms; or passing through the various passageways in order to get outside or to the subway.

In the aftermath of the first rain of the season, the parklands near my home are an inviting area to shoot a test roll from my newly CLA'd Kowa/SIX. This machine has a reputation for superior optics and I am not disappointed.
Legend has it that when the first rains soften the parched earth here, mythical ghouls that haunt the local forests surface from the depths. It seems that I have timed my arrival with their emergence!!

A wild riot of colour as thousands celebrate London's Gay Pride Parade 2011. London 02.07.2011
This Saturday July 2nd 2011 saw the explosion of colour and fabulous carnival/cabaret fancy-dress which is the annual Gay Pride parade passing through the packed London streets as many Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender groups representing special interest campaigning groups, trade unions, the armed forces, police service, christian groups and several of London's gay bars and clubs celebrated their sexuality and diversity, watched and cheered on by tens of thousands of enthusiastic members of the public.
The days celebrations were purposefully snubbed by London mayor Boris Johnson much to the anger and irritation of many, since Mr. Johnson is expected to show support for all Londoners. However, his greatest opponent in the upcoming mayoral elections, former London Mayor Ken Livingstone was to be seen - as always - at the head of the parade, accompanied by human and gay rights activist Peter Tatchell.
Gone was the nervous tension of the original trail-blazing Gay Pride marches of the late 1970's and early 80's, as a new generation of gay people enjoy far greater public acceptance of their lifestyle in what feel like more enlightened times. What is taken for granted now was fought for in the past by courageous activists and their political supporters who wanted to see an end to the homophobic bigotry and institutionalised discrimination which used to be the universal public position towards them.
Having said that, there was a demonstration set up at the bottom of Waterloo Place by a group of so-called Christians from the Baptist Church - some of whom looked like they had been time-warped directly from the 1950's, complete with emotional constipation - who spent the entire afternoon insulting and demeaning all gay people and anyone who accepts homosexuality as a part of the enormously wide spectrum of human sexuality by cherry-picking snippets from the Bible completely without proper context, and generally showing themselves up to be nothing more than a bunch of hate-filled bigots who hilariously claim to love the people they were standing there belittling.

After the parade made its way from Portland Place to Trafalgar Square, the marchers and bystanders alike dispersed into Soho for some serious street partying which lasted late into the night. There was a main stage in Trafalgar Square which hosted a long rosta of minor-league pop and dance acts during the afternoon, though oddly this year there were no big-name headliners, and another Dance Stage in Soho Square which featured a great line-up of club DJs.
