Say hi to my great friend who has been giving me much joy over the last nine months in the back garden and who loves nothing more than to soak up the suns rays and roll about on the grass and be so friendly and photogenic for me. This young lad looks more grown up now and is in a great shape and condition, he certainly gets the attention from the female vixens now.

Due to my health condition, I am unable to hold or stabilize a camera for extended periods of time. Additionally, using a tripod has never been enjoyable for me, as it would cause pain when trying to position it correctly and constantly bending over to check the viewfinder. Consequently, I have chosen to explore digital AI artwork as an alternative. I understand that this may not be everyone's cup of tea, as it diverges from traditional photography. However, I have always granted myself the freedom to exercise artistic license and pursue whatever brings me joy. Currently, digital AI artwork fulfills that purpose, at least for the time being.

It's really an unseasonably warm late Winter with temperatures up to 18 C. Quite amazing. And that weather brought out lots of insects.

Here's a Marmalade Hoverfly; if you look at its wings, for example, you will see they are entirely in mint condition. Nu sight of wear yet. Amazingly beautiful; and she's happily collecting pollen on Crocus.

DESCRIPTION:

When we take a picture during a sunset , usually we are attracted by the bright colors we see in the west and rarely point the camera in the opposite direction, towards the east. Yet, if the condition are favorable (clear and transparent sky ) the show we would see would be just as beautiful. This photo, taken by Acireale, a city of Sicily located on a hill overlooking the Ionian Sea , wants to be a testimony. The color element that dominates and characterizes it is the pink band extended for about 20 degrees above the horizon, known as “ the belt of Venus”.

The belt of Venus is an atmospheric phenomenon due to backscattering of the red sunlight at sunset by the particles of the atmosphere that are on the opposite side of the sun.

Near the horizon, due to the shadow projected by the Earth, the belt progressively decreases in brightness and color until it disappears completely.

The phenomenon lasts a few minutes and is visible even at down, just before sunrise.

Vedado is bordered to the east by Central Havana district and west by the Miramar district, just north of Plaza de la Revolución, the central administrative division of the Cuban government. In early colonial times, it was forbidden to build on these lands to be able to see at far the enemy fleets coming. Hence the name of Vedado, which means forbidden in Spanish.

Before knowing the weather condition of the Himalayan region we should understand its geography. The Himalayan region covers an area of 2,250 km with an average width of 200 km.

The forest belt of the Himalayan region consists of Oak, Rhododendron, Birch, Pine, Deodar, and Fir. And the monsoon season in this region lasts for mid June till the end of September. The Himalayas influences the meteorological conditions in the Indian subcontinent to the south and in the Central Asian highlands to the north to a great extent. It acts a climatic divider circulating the air and water system to a great extent. Because of its altitude and location it blocks the passage of the cold winds coming from the north to the Indian sub continent thereby making India's climate much more moderate. It also influences the rainfall pattern in India. The combined effect of rainfall, latitude and altitude largely influences the forests belts in the Himalayan region. The rainfall is mostly recorded during the monsoon time of June to September but it decreases as you travel from east to west. The snow-capped ranges of the Himalayas stretch 2, 250 km from the Namcha Barwa to Nanga Parbat on the Indus. The range extends from east to west up to central-Nepal and then takes a southeast to northwest direction.

Maybe not a brilliant photo of low light condition at a winter afternoon, but this gem was brightening up my mind!

I took this photo in January 1980 with my analoge Nikon camera and then digitalised.

Water lilies are a well studied clade of plants because their large flowers with multiple unspecialized parts were initially considered to represent the floral pattern of the earliest flowering plants, and later genetic studies confirmed their evolutionary position as basal angiosperms. Analyses of floral morphology and molecular characteristics and comparisons with a sister taxon, the family Cabombaceae, indicate, however, that the flowers of extant water lilies with the most floral parts are more derived than the genera with fewer floral parts. Genera with more floral parts, Nuphar, Nymphaea, Victoria, have a beetle pollination syndrome, while genera with fewer parts are pollinated by flies or bees, or are self- or wind-pollinated Thus, the large number of relatively unspecialized floral organs in the Nymphaeaceae is not an ancestral condition for the clade.

Struggled a bit getting a good shot of these delightful birds, due to the very foggy condition, however these two came close enough to give me a chance.

Another impression from Carrbridge, the oldest bridge in the Scottish Highlands, showing more of the surrounding landscape. (From Wikipedia) "Carrbridge's most famous landmark is the old packhorse bridge, from which the village is named. The bridge, built in 1717, is the oldest stone bridge in the Highlands. It was severely damaged in the "muckle spate" of 1829 which left it in the condition seen today. It is now unstable and is recommended only to be viewed from afar. Jumping off the bridge into the River Dulnain below had long been a popular pastime for younger locals and the more adventurous tourists.

A female Blackbird 'sunning' in the garden earlier. Had to Google the behaviour as I thought it was sick at first...

No-one knows for certain the reasons birds do this and several theories have been proposed. However, sunning would appear to perform two separate functions: maintaining the bird's feathers in good condition, and helping to regulate it's temperature. There is even a suggestion that they do it simply because they enjoy it!

'PRISTINE VULNERABILITY.'

I remember finding this pristine Marble White clinging to a grass stem, shortly after she had emerged. Her wings had not fully hardened so whenever she moved up the stem, they were still a little floppy. At such an early stage of adulthood, she would have been extremely vulnerable if spotted by a predatory bird.
