Jason Miller creates his conceptually driven images in-studio, Memphis, TN. Miller is interested in making imagery that deals with human subjects interrelating and communicating through archaic 20th century artifacts. He works both in single imagery as well as grand format digital montage. Historical topics including Memento mori, Vanitas, and a self-reflection on modern human inventions of communication paired with mirrors and symbolism are placed in communion with the use of chiaroscuro, thoroughly considered custom museum dioramas, and highly detailed photographic based renderings. .

.

No images, mediated or otherwise, are used that do not first pass directly through Millerâs camera. The goal of the photographically created images is to transcend being merely esthetically pleasing in order to arrive at a materialization of the underlying thought process. "My work is designed, from conception to final presentation, to lay bare the struggle and chess play behind my process.".

I’m going to say something about this image, this was a piece that came into my head just me and the model , not MUA not fancy lights just raw

The concept it’s about addictions and my personal experiences with them

When you are hooked on something your vulnerable (hence the nudity)

you look soulless ( the white paint and white eyes )

You can’t feel emotions or if you don’t there not with the full force (the white hands)

You can be at your most beautiful but also at your most damaged

I wanted to use sian for these reasons , she portrayed it perfectly

and I don’t care if no-one likes this

I did this for me and anyone else out there who has been a slave to addictions or perhaps still fighting them

vuoti, duri, senza un'anima. Come la gente di Milano.

Digital Photography Final- Fall 2010

Lex had a great time playing and totally got this message. This was taken to the left of the historic Old Orchard Beach pier, facing the amusement park…once again booted off the location by beach bike cops, for having too much fun without even taking your clothes off. Digital Canon 10D underexposed and pushed two stops at magic hour.

Decomposition in different planes and cropping. Made with Illustrator.

lupita, fue una modelo entusiasta, y apoyó mi sesión.

Trying to find dark bits peeking out of the brightness.

It wasn't really a conceptual art project. It was an attempt by the Army Corps of Engineers to control flooding and ice build up. Twice before the project was completed the river flooded taking half finished forms, compressors and giant sump pumps down river; all which had to be replaced at $100s of thousands of dollars. When winter ice built up, the ice floes broke up and careened downriver as well. the flooding broken up by a wrecker ball but as high as any flood in 25 years.

Shot for a school project in my conceptual process class. The idea was to take a picture based on one of the four senses (excluding sight) and portray a meaningful memory of that sense in said picture.

My sense was hearing and the reason behind this picture is that my father used to play the keyboard a lot when I was younger. He passed away when I was 7 and my mom has a tape (a tape!) of him playing the keyboard and talking to both of us. Said tape is the only recording we have of his voice. This is a very important tape to me as I cannot remember what his voice sounds like without it.

TL;DR This project was a conceptual way of remembering a great father.
