'We had a long period of heavy rain between Sep and Nov 2015. The best was to become connected with it, creating weird megalomaniacal fantasies."

When the man stood in front of this piece of conceptual art in the Rijksmuseum, it struck me that it symbolized the only apparent sense of choice we sometimes have. I am not normally a fan of "conceptual art", but this spoke to me.

No matter what we do. We are always distracted. Even if we read a book about distraction, we are again distracted by what to do to avoid being distracted. Do we have to be careful at all? Why? Maybe our life is full of pleasant and unpleasant distractions, but why and how should we gather our attention? What should we focus on? I don't know because I am distracted right now as I write this text. I have learned to focus on my distractions!!!!!!!!
This is part of a series of images that will be used for my final year dissertation. The subject is conceptual art and photography which includes a written essay as well as a visual final piece.
The images help to portray the types of feelings of anger, confusion and frustration etc. that the subject of conceptual art arouses amongst not only myself, but many others. The essay itself features as part of my photographs, like the essay is the piece of art and use photography to document the idea, just like the conceptualists.
In this image the essay (the conceptual piece of art) is being scraped from a wall.
Materials: Plywood with 'brick like' paper wallpapered to it. Then stuck my essay on the wall...
Equipment: Digital. Camera set on timer.
Strobist... Manfrotto plexi table. One flash at 12:00 and pointing down on subject with Honl snoot lit the faces and created the reflection. 3 additional flashes in varying locations at 12:00 set to lower powers with grids and snoots to light the sword. Minimal PS (levels, curves) to accomplish the true blacks. Enjoy.
