From the book The Art of The Last Jedi. I don't recall getting a good look at DJ's ship in the movie which is a shame-the design looks pretty cool. A cocktail of Lotus Espirit, a Thunderfighter and Maximillion from Disney's Black Hole. It would make a neat Lego set or model kit but you know, it's all more X-Wings and TIE fighters.

So I stumbled across pics of a Soviet Whisky Long-bin submarine (never seen them before) and I felt inspired to do some sketching. The boat looks like a frickan' sea monster! Anyway, I got a little lost along the way; not sure I really captured what I saw in my head. I do have a lot of black parts courtesy of my Hag Titan from last year: it wouldn't hurt to start building and see what happens.

Blacktron maybe? Taking inspiration from WW2 destroyers like the USS Buck: long and thin with the bridge forward of the midships (is there a proper term for that area?) I've clustered all the weaponry and comms into the main node along with the bridge, leaving the long engine exposed (to aid in heat dissapation).
I'll colour the lower, bulbous version soon.

Dramatic North American Rockwell artist's concept from 1969, depicting docked & approaching/departing "DC-3" shuttles at an orbiting space station. The shuttle design was developed, patented and promoted by renowned NASA Engineer, Dr. Maxime Faget. Note the air-breathing engines visible atop the wings of the foreground shuttle.
Although there's no visible signature, I'm pretty sure it's by Henry Lozano Jr., North American Aviation/North American Rockwell artist/illustrator extraordinaire.
In fact, Mr. Lozano was 1970 President of the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles (SILA):

Space superiority fighter designation ORCA. Weapons: gimbal mounted particle beam emitter for point defense, 8x medium-yield nuclear missiles plus mission-variable twin hard points. Propulsion is provided by an ion drive requiring substantial heat dissipation. The design of the ship offers a small and narrow frontal cross-section. Roundel features on either flank of the ship are classified and their function is not currently know. The chin houses six canisters of countermeasures. Pilots of these vessels undergo extensive genetic modifications to enable them to pilot craft in both zero and extremely high Gs.
My entry for the Starfighter 200+ contest. The initial design was a really simple, hard-edged rectangle with the alternating black/white graphic shapes. It looked a little boring so I'd add extra volume and embellishments only to regret that it started losing it's bold outlines and simplicity. After see-sawing back and forth a few times I finally settled on this iteration; a little bit of both. Heavily inspired by weapon design in games such as Destiny. And this blog.
