FIANLLY! Let's see how close I get to the my concept art. Still toying with the idea of using yellow (with chromed fangs) but black is going to be kinder with parts selection. Names is either Blasphemy or Hag Titan currently.

An old transport used as a trader's ship, something that would fit into the Star Wars Outer Rim planets maybe.

Well, it's kinda Build-a-Joe but just concept art really. A spacey, pew-pew Cobra trooper. There are SO MANY incredible concepts for military spacesuits out there already.

A: I took one design from CT as inspiration (I believe it's from a game or demonstartion called "Project Boundary") and grabbed a NASA MMU suit to play with.

B: Keeping fairly true the original as far as colour scheme goes. The red top and charcoal pants never really worked for me as a space suit but it's fun to try it out on a somewhat more realistic frame.

C: Aiming for but not quite achieving a gold foil effect on the backpack. I liked the dark grey helmet though, it feels more military. But it doesn't feel "bad guys" enough to me.

D: Just totally going for straight-up weirdness with an fly guy and attitude boots??? Seriously, I don't know :-D I thought a cool helmet might have a wraparound visor like a dragonfly or something. And after that I couldn't stop.

Really, I just want this. Like, really, really want. More like need actually.

Space superiority fighter designation ORCA. Weapons: gimbal mounted particle beam emitter for point defense, 8x medium-yield nuclear missiles plus mission-variable twin hard points. Propulsion is provided by an ion drive requiring substantial heat dissipation. The design of the ship offers a small and narrow frontal cross-section. Roundel features on either flank of the ship are classified and their function is not currently know. The chin houses six canisters of countermeasures. Pilots of these vessels undergo extensive genetic modifications to enable them to pilot craft in both zero and extremely high Gs.

My entry for the Starfighter 200+ contest. The initial design was a really simple, hard-edged rectangle with the alternating black/white graphic shapes. It looked a little boring so I'd add extra volume and embellishments only to regret that it started losing it's bold outlines and simplicity. After see-sawing back and forth a few times I finally settled on this iteration; a little bit of both. Heavily inspired by weapon design in games such as Destiny. And this blog.

Not dodging LOVE while being a male

From the book The Art of The Last Jedi. Don't get me wrong, I really loved the movie. But I do have a few design preferences I would've changed.

Like the bomber: The long tube designs look great, retain both the WW2 vibe and the 70s sci-fi look. The decision to go vertical is fine but it feels like it ended up a compromise, the end shape being a right angle square. A tad too goofy for me. At least keep the wings wide: it offers a larger target and suggests a tightrope walker balancing.

What do you people think? Like? Dislike? Meh?

I really want to see an Outrigger-inspired fighter in a Star Wars movie. But flatter and more angular. That would rock!

Finally started watching The Expanse season 2 over the weekend so of course this happened while I should be SHIPtembering. I dunno if these designs fit into Expense style but they're some hard-surface boilerplate comfort zone distraction :-) Cargo are mounted at the nose and a ventral weapons hardpoint for mission-variable load outs.

I really regret that I can not engage my favorite hobby more than I want.

I like to create.

Some did, some didn't

I'm very much interested in stretching the Star Trek aesthetic to the minimalist extreme (something that I try often but rarely have luck with; chunky, ugly industrial spaceships are way easier!) How minimal can you go while keeping most of the design motifs recognizable? I like the thought of the Federation's ship designs changing over time as they come into contact with new technology and art. Plus I kinda worship 1980s product design with clean, bold lines and sharp edges, so there's always that.

I've started experimenting with the pen tool to draw better curves, much research still to do with that. Also, this file size is tiny for some reason?

So I stumbled across pics of a Soviet Whisky Long-bin submarine (never seen them before) and I felt inspired to do some sketching. The boat looks like a frickan' sea monster! Anyway, I got a little lost along the way; not sure I really captured what I saw in my head. I do have a lot of black parts courtesy of my Hag Titan from last year: it wouldn't hurt to start building and see what happens.

From the book The Art of The Last Jedi. I don't recall getting a good look at DJ's ship in the movie which is a shame-the design looks pretty cool. A cocktail of Lotus Espirit, a Thunderfighter and Maximillion from Disney's Black Hole. It would make a neat Lego set or model kit but you know, it's all more X-Wings and TIE fighters.

I saw some cool-looking backgrounds in some Transformers movie art and one thing led to another.
