Just ordered parts for my new combination HTPC/file server. I'm going to replace my NAS and its motley assortment of external hard drives with this box. I'm going to stick it in the den and pipe the HDMI out to the living room TV over CAT5. Once I move the NAS drives in, it'll have 2 terabytes of RAID 1 mirrored space, plus its own 160 GB HD for OS, games, etc.
This came straight out of a *very* cheap CD/DVD ROM drive, this is the back of the assembly. It's destined to become part of the eye assembly

The first of these books was made for a book swap with the title "An Up-To-Date Interpretation Of The Nag Hammadi Binding".
I therefore wanted to combine old and new assocciations in one book and came up with this.
Binding: As close as possible to the Nag Hammadi Binding, given I wanted to use these Computer Boards. - Almost all stiches are tackets, and it has the characteristic close flap on the front cover, and some more technical details.
Inside: The pattered paper is Lokta paper decorated with my own lino cut, which carries details of a mother board design.
Text: A self developed cuneiform writing system. See this image made during the printing of the pages. The language is actually English :-)

Kirjasto 10:ssä on esillä Jussi Seppäsen teos Teknostadi helmikuun alusta maaliskuun loppuun asti. Seppänen on toteuttanut vanhoista tietokoneen piirilevyistä Helsingin kartan. "Teknostadi on tehty rakkaudesta Helsinkiin ja helsinkiläisiin, mutta myös turhautumisesta tietotekniikan kiemuroihin. Olen tehnyt abstraktista konkreettista, veistänyt tietokoneen sisuksista uuden sielunmaiseman, sähköisen, kuhisevan, kiehtovan Stadin."

Working on a Steampunk hallway and, this is the first item.
It's a homemade chandelier from parts of a bicycle, scale, subwoofer, record player and a computer.
The guts of my main working computer. Decently specced hardware, running Ubuntu linux 8.04. What's visible on the right is the drive array. JBOD, baby. Mostly using nice, red serial ata cables.
Without wide angle-lens, this shot would not have been possible.

This is the "Fruby Buddy" that was chosen for this "surgery". It was acquired from a Toy-R-Us back in Iowa, on deep clearance. Bought up their entire supply, and they are sitting in a drawer here in my office waiting for their own surgeries.
The Information Technology Department creatively used discarded computer parts to celebrate the season (one of my coworkers said, "Oh, so that's why our computers don't work, the parts are all on the wall!").
This wreath was hand-woven by one of the programmers.
What to do when you lose power for 2 days and it's too damn hot outside? Well, you grab your camera, and the hardly used 70-300mm lens, new reflector and daughter's toys or old computer parts and practice on macro photos - until the camera battery dies.
