Built in 1924, Compton Acres, situated Nr. Sandbanks in Dorset. The garden is a fine example of a historic Victorian Mixed Style design garden and consists of seven distinct gardens. Including both Italian and Japanese, a lovely garden to visit.
This is the Adam bridge over the lake, over which you approach the house, and landscaped by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown. I read somewhere that the 'Capability' referred not to his abilities, but to his describing a setting as having 'capability'. I suppose we might say 'potential', but Lancelot 'Potential' Brown would have been even stranger.
NS 8104, the Lehigh Valley Heritage Unit, leads southbound manifest NS 15T over the Compton Trestle in Rileyville, Virginia.
43154 'Compton Castle' is seen standing at Bridgwater with the 2C89 1900 Cardiff Central - Plymouth 17/3/23.

Compton Wynyates is a Tudor country house in Warwickshire, England, a Grade I listed building. The Tudor period house is constructed of red brick and built around a central courtyard. It is castellated and turreted in parts.
The house was open to the public but is now a private residence.
15T rolls south through the Shenandoah Valley, crossing the massive trestle at Compton. SD70ACC #1837 is on the point with an AC44C6M serving as the rear DPU.

Burlington Northern caboose No. 12132 trails a BN local through the rural village of Compton, Illinois, on June 10, 1984. BN operated this former Chicago, Burlington & Quincy branch from Sterling to Earlville, Illinois, known as the 10th Subdivision Branch Line of the Chicago Division. The railroad would soon cease operations of the line and the 46.8-mile long branch line would be torn up in 1985.
NS V86 creeps over the Compton Creek trestle on the H-Line between Front Royal and Shenandoah. Recent road construction cleared out a wide open view of this trestle. It's since grown in a bit, but still makes an impressive sight.
