Next foto of my strange transporter for 3 strage BTT contest. This time with less colorfull cargo ;P
Intro for Compressed, my upcoming series of choreographed time-lapse shorts that explore the beauty of the forces of nature that surround us.
For this time compressed intro, I printed the name of the series on a sheet of paper. 'Instant Snow' was then sprinkled onto the paper. The paper was then slowly immersed in water. The result of the water coming in contact with the paper and instant snow was recorded with photographs shot at 1 second intervals with a DSLR.
Shot using custom home-made intervalometer. I used Ableton Live to create the music and After Effects for editing.

Taken from right-to-left, as I was sitting on the north side of the train, headed west.
I really like what happened when I set the camera on my phone to 'panorama' and then held it stationary against the window of the train: (from an email I wrote) "The camera accrues the image unevenly: it's looking for motion but its internal gyroscope ("accelerometer") is confused. If things aren't changing much in the foreground, the picture 'piles up' and the horizon stutters, but water or trees close-by trigger a richer capture
This was just after sunrise. Fall colours here, and lots of standing water."
I was actually intending this to be some sort of compressed composition, fitting in all the flowers in one frame. But somehow, out of the takes I got, I liked this one instead...
Compressed Air Locomotive on static display at the Northern Ontario Railway Museum and Heritage Center located in Prescott Park in Capreol Ontario Canada.
No history or information for this Compressed Air Locomotive. These types of locomotives were used in underground mining to pull ore cars to the ore passes.

This is Portsmouth's Spinnaker Tower as seen from the seafront at Ryde via a 300 mm telephoto lens on a CSC camera giving a 600mm film equivalent performance.
The straight line distance between Ryde and Portsmouth is approx 10 km or 6.5 miles
A very low tide meant the hovercraft had to travel slowly over the vast sandbanks at Ryde shown here as the hovercraft approaches the beach and slipway.
The compressed perspective of the 300 mm lens makes Portsmouth look a lot closer than 10 km.
Surprisingly the reflection of the Spinnaker Tower is just visible in the reflections in the wet sand on the beach at Ryde - 6.5 miles away.
