Composition of 5 photos from one of the Asker Artistic Skating Club skaters

This is one of my postcard compositions. I don't have a copy of the original. The rule is that the piece has has to fit on the back of a postcard and be written by hand.

This one was for my friend Irving who plays double bass in Boston. He actually performed it at a recital several years ago.

This my best example of birds eye. I really like this photo because the shoes are dirty and the laces are untied to give it character. I chose it because it focused on one image with no distractions around it. To create contrast in my image I enhanced the brightness and added texture for more detail, and also added vignette for effect. I was trying to create an effortless mood.

This is my best example of Simplicity. I really like this photo because the pottery guy in right in the center and the quality of this photo is very clear. To create contrast in my image I had my exposure at -0.76, contrast at -12, and highlight at -49. Also, i put the temp color at 5043k, tint at +7, and saturation at +12. The mood I was trying to create was funny but some people could also find this image creepy.

Mid-20th century. Composition head on a very firmly stuffed cloth body. Beautifully dressed in fine cotton clothes with cotton shoes, all trimmed with dainty braid and with tiny pearl buttons. Her jacket has an unusual pattern of white cats and ducks. The wheeled wooden panda is a modern German Erzgebirge (Iron Mountains) miniature. The figure of a girl on a fish is a novelty pencil sharpener from China, made of a clay-like material.

Composition: Patterns/Repetition

Monday 9th December 2013 - Friday 13th December 2013

LOD, Ghent

During the first workshop in December 2013, the composers worked with the four highly experienced singers of VOCAALLAB (high soprano, mezzo/alto, low tenor, baritone) and Eva Reiter (viola da gamba, Paetzold bass recorder) on these pieces. The singers also presented topics from older and contemporary repertoire, in order to study and compare this material, to share their experiences, and show them different ways of singing and writing for the voice, including topics like the use of text, the different styles of vocalization (from bel canto to traditional or popular voices, world music, noises and new sounds made possible by amplification, the voice as pure instrument, speaking and transitioning from speaking to singing).

This workshop included a lecture by Wouter Snoei, regarding the question of how to use electronics in relation to voice.

This is the first composition of my son George (2yrs) who carefully selected and arranged the cubes and stones by himself and then, even better, he mounted them on the top of the armchair rest
