Built in 1911, the Stephen W. McKeever began her journey as a menhaden fishing boat. In 1917 during World War I, she was commissioned by the U.S. Navy to serve as a minesweeper until 1919. In 1943 during World War II, she serve as a submarine patrol boat with the U.S. Coast Guard. Five months later, she was decommissioned and returned to her original owner.
She was then grounded beside the Nanticoke River in Delaware and converted to a full-service restaurant named The Flagship. Changing hands several times over the years, her final identity was the Nautico Seafood and Mexican Restaurant. She now sits empty ... after renovation attempts failed, never to reopen.

I think this quarantine is bringing out of us a completely unexpected side. For some, the slow down might be much needed and for some, this entire situation might be hell on Earth.
This past week has given me a lot of time to think and breath (which I am so grateful for). I already tend to retreat to my home a lot, so being home all day every day isn’t all that unusual for me. What is utterly weird is not being able to go to the gym and see my friends and students. I struggled with that a lot for the first part of my quarantine. Now, I have come to terms with it being our new normal for a few weeks. That doesn’t mean that I don’t have ideas for bringing fitness to them (as soon as I get my spin bike delivered!). I do really miss teaching Cycle but the break has been welcomed. I am working on catching up with photoshoots (some are three years old!), spending more time with hubby, spending more time with my fur babies, journaling more on what I want to do with my life moving forward and Skyping more with my parents :) For some, this break probably has been hell. We’re in this situation together across the globe. To those who have lost someone to COVID-19 or have been directly affected by the virus, I am sending you so much love. I have no idea what you are personally going through, but know that at least one person is thinking about you in this moment.

We feel so chained, so weighed down, but they are chains of our own making. Last week at Promoting Passion, there was a lot of talk about how each one of is has so much to offer. We are each unique and have individual experiences that give us something to bring to the table, but we are held back by our fears. Fear of rejection, fear of failure - these hold us back. Our perceived insufficiencies and failures - they keep us afraid, but are really the keys to our own art. Those "flaws" we think we have are what enable us to create something new the world has never seen before, if only we can notice they are keys and not anchors.
Another conceptual self-portrait I did in honour of my mother, who passed away in April at age 58 from cancer. This was done to reflect the peace she is in now, and also, since she was spiritual, I added angel wings. I'm wearing her ring in this.

Being entrusted to create a portrait like this is a huge honor. After creating my portrait “Impenetrable” Sheila expressed that she, too, wanted a portrait like that. -
I have always been intrigued in what the eye cannot see but what the soul can feel. For me, the topic of energy plays a large roll in my life. -
Sheila medeled for me when she came to visit and we went through various poses. Her energy is very fiery yet vibrant. She exudes a feeling of power which I symbolize with red. Red is also a color that suits her very well. -
I came up with the glowing shapes through just tuning into her and what I felt her energy symbols would look like if we could see them. I sat down with a piece of paper and stared at her portrait, took a moment of silence for myself and drew the shapes that came to mind. That was my roadmap for this final portrait. The funny thing is that when my husband looked at it for the first time, he expressed that it looked very musical. Sheila is a musician and music is her greatest creative love. -

How will you push yourself to be different?

I believe that in order to unleash who you truly are you cannot be afraid to be different or stand out. Granted, I realize that my extrovert self is saying that but if there is one thing that I have learned while being a marketer for a start-up real estate company is that being different WAS EXACTLY what we needed to do. Since I resigned my full-time marketing position and delved into art full-time, I have been FORCING myself to do things that are normally out of my comfort zone. .
You see, one of my greatest challenges is battling complacency and procrastination. It is so easy to say, “There will be a next time or I will do it tomorrow.” But tomorrow stays as tomorrow and life rides along with outcomes that are “just good enough”. .
So, what better way to step out of your comfort zone than by taking a skull in your carry-on bag on your next plane ride?
This shoot with Briauna from Just Bee Healing was all about taking bold action (for me). I felt scared to go in public with a yogi (who looked nude from a distance), use body paint on her and start flinging flour and baby powder just because that was my vision. However, it felt liberating and I remember thinking to myself, “This is what I am made for.” I love taking portraits and I love them even more when they can be different.

Years ago, Winter was bitten by a non-radioactive but very hungry bunny and gained the speed, agility and proportional appetite of a typical rabbit, he learned with little power comes little responsibility.
Visited Arches National Park and couldn't help but have some fun. The week prior to us being there it was cold and rainy and we had cloudy skies at night and I really wanted to shoot the Milky Way in the Desert. When the skies cleared our first choice was Delicate Arch but I was amazed at how may people also had the same idea on the first clear night. So, not wanting any humans in the shot we packed up and headed to the Double Arch in Windows which worked out just fine. Composite image.
I had the cutest Snow White themed photoshoot the other day! I added the animals to give it more of a Snow White vibe of how the animals loved her.
This is the second LEGO Doctor Octopus vs Spider-Ian photo artwork I have created for my son after we put together the set! His imagination when he's playing is what inspires me to create artwork like this for him. We have a lot fun creating together!

As 2018 came to a close I want to express my sincerest gratitude for all that’s transpired throughout the year. Thank you to my family and friends who continuously come to my art shows and exhibits, who continue to support my journey and who have been there since day one.
My wish for you in 2019 as 2018 sets is that you find your truest joys and passions in 2019. That you commit to making them happen and live your happiest and truest life. My wish for each and everyone of you is for you to explore everything that there is to explore, to be curious and hungry for knowledge. I wish that you ardently desire to pursue what you’ve always wanted.
The world needs these shifts in perspective. The world needs you to pursue your deepest and greatest loves because you never know whose life you will impact the most. My wish for you is that in 2019, you set out on a journey of adventure and truly savor and enjoy each and every second of your life.

I am so grateful to Mrs. Death (as weird as that sounds) because the project of bringing her to life has – in its own way – set me free. There was something so incredibly liberating out of creating with a set prop and just letting your imagination run 100% completely wild. The best part is that I set aside my personal fears of judgement, tucked my head down and just created. At four images so far, Mrs. Death has taken a life of her own. She is dramatic, quirky, slightly humorous and caring. Just because she comes for those who are dying does not mean that she does not honor or respect the dead.
“Roses for the Dead” was created from a place of honoring those who’ve died and especially those who have passed with no one to mourn them. Mrs. Death comes to seek the dead with a red rose to honor their human lives.
I hope to be able to continue this project throughout the year. As a little girl, I have always had an interest in skulls and skeletons. I am grateful that my Mom never tried to change my interests or make me feel like something was wrong with me. Later on, I was judged for wearing my skeleton hoodie in July – someone walked up to me and told me that it wasn’t Halloween yet with a tone of slight disgust. I’ve never truly cared about such things but this person caught me during a vulnerable moment where that comment was like a seed planted in my heart. Basically, it was not okay to be 100% me – just the part that doesn’t weird people out is ok. Well, I am here to tell you (five or so years later) that being 100% me is the best feeling in this world and Mrs. Death has shown that to me.
Be free, be weird and most importantly be fiercely you because no one out there will ever come close.

So this was meant to be posted up on Halloween - however the editing proved to be a bit of a challenge..
So I’ve always found myself - even now in my late twenties comforted watching old school cartoons and one that keeps me youthful and that I keep going back to is the 1969 scooby doo cartoons, and this is where the inspiration for this photo arose.
The headless horseman was and is a well known figure of Halloween and scary stories and this year the stimuli of this character tied in well with a great day out with my friends going to pick our own pumpkins which allowed me to bring this idea to life
It also gave me the chance to experiment more with editing techniques that I’ve been testing and experimenting with both with new photoshop update (which I am loving) and also thanks to the wonderful @jamie_flack with his wonderful help and support trying to illuminate this guy right 😄
