I really like this new square taper crankset from Paul Components and like all their components, the finish work/anodizing is top notch. My commuter bike has a Paul seatpost, brake levers, disc brake calipers and quick release skewers on it. They've all now been on the bike through 6 winters and the finish on all those components is still in excellent condition, which is really impressive to me.

i found a small teevee/video on the street. boy it was dusty but i took it home to see if it worked anyway. i plugged it in and it blew up bang loud and scared me. so i told it it couldn't live with me no more, took the back off it and took some photos of its insides to remember it by. all these mysterious bits and pieces, they make magic you know?

I tried soldering a few of the components on to check I could - they're bloody tiny.

Excuse the mess.

This is the cabinet I bought to house my satellite box, DVD player, Xbox, receiver, etc. It cost me something like $350, so I assumed it was a good quality piece of furniture.

Turns out it's made of particle board and flimsy as hell without that rear panel. I found this out when I got it home and pried the rear panel off of it so I could actually run wires between the components. I was going to drill large holes initially, but then I could run the wires, but not see the back of the components to plug them in, so off the back came.

Anyway, after almost eight months of waiting for it to collapse, I finally found an appropriate material at Lowe's, and had them cut it to the proper sizes and leave enough room for me to access the back of the components. Unfortunately, the 21 5/8" that I told them turned out to be 22". I rushed back to Lowe's and the guy re-cut it for me right away.

And now that it has a new back, it's structurally sound once again.

A happy ending!
