Fort Mott, located in Pennsville, NJ, was part of a three-fort defense system designed to defend the Delaware River during the post-Civil War period. The other two forts in the system were Fort Delaware on Pea Patch Island and Fort DuPont in Delaware City, Delaware. Original plans for Fort Mott specified eleven gun emplacements with twenty guns and a mortar battery with six emplacements. Construction was started in 1872. However, only two of the gun emplacements and two magazines in the mortar battery were completed by 1876 when all work stopped.
Fort Mott, along with Fort Delaware and Fort DuPont, became obsolete as the principal defensive installation on the Delaware River with the construction of Fort Saulsbury, near Milford, Delaware, shortly after World War I.
Troops were regularly stationed at Fort Mott from 1897 to 1922. The federal government maintained a caretaking detachment at the fort from 1922 to 1943. New Jersey acquired the military reservation as a historic site and State park in 1947. The park was opened to the public on June 24, 1951.
Fort was completed in current form by the Marmelukes in the 13th C from an earlier fort dating from Roman times.
Fort was the desert HQ of Lawrence of Arabia during the Great Arab Revolt in 1917-18

Freaky Flaw - My cold skin. It tends to put people off being around me. I haven’t got my weather powers under control yet and sometimes they flare up. It can be mortalfying if it happens in class!
Pet - My bunny called Fuyu.
Favourite Activity - Hanging out with my friends.
Biggest Pet Peeve - Hot, humid weather. I pretty much just start to melt when it gets really warm in the summer. I think its why Laura and I get on so well. We both like to avoid direct sunlight.
Favourite School Subject - I love Geography because I get to learn more about the weather.
Least Favourite School Subject - Physical Deaducation. I didn’t inherit it my mother’s gracefulness.
Favourite Colour - I’m fond of lots of colours.
Favourite Food - Anything spicy! I might be cold by nature but I love hot food!
BFF - Draculaura and Abbey Bominable. But I get on with almost everyone.

HISTORY
Pillar completed 6th August 1947 costing £7.5s.6d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NZ29/T119 during 1947. Flush bracket S4168 was levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards in July 1962. Final pre-GPS maintenance by the Ordnance Survey was undertaken in June 1986. This marker was later visited by the OS on 10th August 2000.
SITE VISIT
The pillar is situated behind hedge on the north side of Brunton Lane. The column is in good condition. The spider centre is open. Flush bracket S4168 faces NNE across a field, away from the road. The building development further into the field wasn't there in 1997.

The view from Cathall Road in 2005. This photo shows the same view as the photo which was taken before the A12 construction began. What was Claremont Road is now the A12 (six laned section) which runs alongside the Tube (Central Line). There is now no evidence in this view to suggest that this part of Claremont Road ever existed.
The Colosseum or Roman Coliseum, originally the Flavian Amphitheatre the largest ever built in the Roman Empire. Its construction started around 70AD] under the emperor Vespasian and was completed in 80 AD under his son Titus, with further modifications being made during Domitian's (Vespasian's second son) reign (81–96).
Capable of seating 50,000 spectators, the Colosseum was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles. As well as the gladiatorial games, other public spectacles were held there, such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on Classical mythology.
I'd highly reccomend the Linsday Davies "Falco" novels, set in ancient Rome, for getting a feel for the place.
A hiking holiday in the Cairngorms which hits all the top spots on the hit list for visitors to Scotland: a bit of culture (castles and whisky); a bit of wildlife (badgers and the reclusive pine martens) and memorable days out immersed in the Scottish landscape.
So this was the hat that I started out learning to crochet on. After I got it finished, I realized there was so way this was going to fit a 3-6 month old babe and set it aside to start a new one. Decided to finish this one with a flower (veryberryhandmade.co.uk/my-crochet-patterns/a-frothy-flow...) and I'm hoping to sell it at the craft fair this weekend!
