Completed in 1919, this was the home of an English-Catholic congregation until 2001, when declining numbers led them to move in with the French-speaking members of the nearby Notre-Dame-de-Grace church.
The church was acquired in 2004 by the River's Edge congregation (named not for any nearby river, but rather for a passage from the Bible's Book of Joshua).

Since I can't carry a heavy camera for an indefinite period because of my shoulder surgery, I got a new toy from my wife for my birthday. A fine little Sony that weighs only half. These are the first results.
I think it's not bad!

BNSF 1785 and 1953 tie on to their lone car after working the CTRR interchange in Cloquet, MN on the evening of July 26, 2019. This edition of the Grand Rapids Local brought about 20 cars from Superior to Cloquet but after their Cloquet set out left for Rapids with this one car. Seen some short Grand Rapids Locals this summer, especially west of Cloquet.

Completing the CSAO South Jersey highhood trifecta, NS 5225 passes through Franklinville, NJ, with a short train for Pavonia on Aug. 17, 2023.
Completed in 691–92 CE at the order of Umayyad Caliph Abd al-Malik. Destroyed during the Roman Siege of Jerusalem in 70 CE. The original dome collapsed in 1015 and was rebuilt in 1022–23.

In the 1800s aristocrats from Britain often used to go on a Grand Tour through Europe to complete their cultural education, often ending up in Italy with all the classical sculpture and art. Much of what they saw they purchased and sent back home to adorn their stately homes with evidence of their erudition.
One of the types of art that was particularly popular was the marble sampler table, which generally was a round table inlaid with a wide variety of different coloured marbles. These days you can often see them in the grand houses that are open to the public. To my mind they are not particularly artistic but they are interesting. I just love the different colours and textures in the stone samples. Sometimes you can find a variety of fossils too.
This is one such sampler table captured in the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford in February. I liked the bright colours so I thought I would try a zoom burst ICM of the tabletop. The colours have been cooked somewhat to produce a colourful psychedelic display.

The Bode Museum is one of the group of museums on Museum Island in Berlin, Germany. It was designed by architect Ernst von Ihne and completed in 1904
Another view of an abandoned farm near Dekalb,IL. This was is unusual because of the great old brick home that has been left to decay. Nearly all the other structures on the farm have lost their battle with neglect, most full of old machinery. A truly unique feature of the old house is a large dinner bell mounted on a wrought iron pole outside,the rope to ring it still leading inside a side door. It probably still rings in the wind now,but no one has answered it for a long time....
