Brunate overlooks Como, which lies on the shore of Lake Como some 500 metres below. For a short time in the late 12th century Brunate was an independent commune, but in 1240 it reverted to the suzerainty of Como. Como and Brunate are linked by a steep, narrow, winding road, and by the Como to Brunate funicular. Alessandro Volta lived in Brunate for a short period and the Bulgarian poet Pencho Slaveykov died in the town on 10 June 1912.
This is a seven stitch panorama taken from the summit of Como Pedrosa, which at 9,656 feet is the high point of the country of Andorra. For those who don't know, Andorra is a small and extremely mountainous land locked country surrounded by Spain to the south and France to the north.

Una de las imágenes que pude lograr de la Apolo posada sobre la orquídea Dactylorhiza maculata. Fotografiada al atardecer en El Valle de Aran (Lleida). Se trata de una hembra con el “sphragis” bien visible, cuyo tema ya he citado en alguna otra toma publicada.
En algunas especies, como Parnassius apollo y P. mnemosyne entre otras, los machos -tras la cópula- colocan a las hembras una sustancia que se solidifica denominada "sphragis", la cual tapa el acceso genital de la hembra de manera que impide el que se pueda aparear de nuevo con otro macho. Garantía de su estirpe?… En el momento de la puesta esa sustancia cede y permite la oviposición.

Chez certaines espèces, comme Parnassius apollo et P. mnemosyne entre autres, les mâles - après la copulation - attachent aux femelles une substance solidifiante appelée "sphragis", qui recouvre l'accès génital féminin d'une manière qui empêche la peut s'accoupler à nouveau avec un autre mâle. Garantie de sa lignée?… Au moment de la ponte, cette substance cède et permet la ponte.

Torla, Sobrarbe, Huesca, Aragón, España.
Torla-Ordesa es una localidad y municipio español en el Sobrarbe, provincia de Huesca, Aragón. Se sitúa al norte de su provincia y al noroeste de su comarca, y fronterizo con Francia, aunque sin conexión por carretera con ella.
Es puerta de acceso al valle de Ordesa perteneciente al Parque nacional de Ordesa y Monte Perdido, así como al valle de Broto. Se encuentra a 100 km de Huesca capital, y el acceso por carretera solo puede realizarse por la N-260 desde Broto o desde Biescas a través del puerto de Cotefablo (1423 m). Además del núcleo de Torla, el municipio lo conforman también las poblaciones de Fragén, Linás de Broto y Víu de Linás.
Parte de su término municipal está ocupado por el Monumento natural de los Glaciares Pirenaicos.
Torla se encuentra en el valle glaciar del río Ara, después de la confluencia de los valles de Bujaruelo (donde nace el río Ara) y el Ordesa (río Arazas), suponiéndose que la lengua glaciar llegaba hasta Asín de Broto, con más de 30 km en total. El Ara pasa por ser el único río de cierta importancia de España que no está represado por la mano humana en todo el curso de 70 km hasta su confluencia con el río Cinca en Aínsa.
Torla-Ordesa is a Spanish town and municipality in El Sobrarbe, Huesca province, Aragon. It is located to the north of its province and northwest of its region, and on the border with France, although without road connection with it.
It is the gateway to the Ordesa Valley belonging to the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, as well as the Broto Valley. It is located 100 km from Huesca capital, and access by road can only be made by the N-260 from Broto or from Biescas through the port of Cotefablo (1423 m). In addition to the nucleus of Torla, the municipality is also made up of the towns of Fragén, Linás de Broto and Víu de Linás.
Part of its municipal term is occupied by the Natural Monument of the Pyrenean Glaciers.
Torla is located in the glacial valley of the Ara River, after the confluence of the Bujaruelo valleys (where the Ara River is born) and the Ordesa (Arazas River), assuming that the glacial tongue reached Asín de Broto, with more than 30 km in total. The Ara happens to be the only river of some importance in Spain that is not dammed by human hands throughout the 70 km course until its confluence with the Cinca river in Aínsa.
