The "Cheuasai" are a Central Asian minority group with very little access to the Good News about Jesus. SIM hopes to build bridges into Cheuasai communities and someday introduce those communities to Christ.
In the spring, on the Roman Catholic holy day of Good Friday, hundreds of Chicagoans, most of them devout Catholics, escort a modern-day Jesus to a simulated crucifixion. The passion reenactment takes place over 12 blocks on 18th Street, beginning at Providence of God Church at 18th and Halsted and continues to Harrison Park.
The final visit for SIM Philppines to the Typhoon Haiyan disaster zone. The team said farewell to communities they have been supporting for over a year.

The former home of U.S. Steel's South Works is now 573 acres of vacant land awaiting redevelopment right next to South Chicago. Massive walls that stored iron ore, coke and limestone for steelmaking are the last vestige of the site's history. This ore wall picture was taken by our local artist Elisa Botello.
