This Common Buckeye is an uncommon sight in Northern Illinois in November. Maybe 2020 just did this one in and it didn't feel up to flying South this year.

Captain Doug and I were on the lake, checking bald eagle nests and enjoying the beautiful autumn day. We came upon a small flock of common loons who were also enjoying the warmth. Loons are winter visitors here and their lovely calls can be heard in the early mornings and late evenings. Captain Doug tried to ease in front of the loons so I could get some face shots, but, the loons easily grouped, turned direction and then lined out and left us behind. They are fast swimmers and they left me and the little iPhone behind a couple of times too!

Imature male Common Eider (Somateria mollissima dresseri) - Barnegat Inlet, Barnegat Lighthouse State Park, New Jersey
This juvie male Common Eider was sitting off the end of the jetty in a hard spot to get good light, and I must have made a hundred or more captures of him as he bobbed about in the waves. I crouched next to the seaward side of the horn tower to keep from being silhouetted while I made these captures, and stayed there for about an hour where I was sheltered from the 30 knot winds. I decided it was probably a good idea to head for home after the Coast Guard send out a boat to check on me. It seems they must have become concerned during the time I was hidden from view behind the horn tower foundation, and came out to make sure I was OK.

APPLICATIONS
Biochemistry Sterol demethylation inhibitor. Inhibits cell membrane ergosterol biosynthesis, stopping development of the fungus. Mode of action Systemic fungicide with preventive and curative action. Absorbed by the leaves, with acropetal and strong translaminar translocation. Uses Systemic fungicide with a novel broad-range activity protecting the yield and crop quality by foliar application or seed treatment. Provides long-lasting preventive and curative activity against Ascomycetes, Basidiomycetes and Deuteromycetes including Alternaria, Ascochyta, Cercospora, Cercosporidium, Colletotrichum, Guignardia, Mycosphaerella, Phoma, Ramularia, Rhizoctonia, Septoria, Uncinula, Venturia spp., Erysiphaceae, Uredinales and several seed-borne pathogens. Used against disease complexes in grapes, pome fruit, stone fruit, potatoes, sugar beet, oilseed rape, banana, cereals, rice, soya beans, ornamentals and various vegetable crops, at 30-125 g/ha. Used as a seed treatment against a range of pathogens in wheat and barley, at 3-24 g/100 kg seed.
This common redpoll is another late winter backyard visitor. The weather has been warming up and this female arrived in a small flock. Post processing with Topaz Studio (AI Clear, Precision Detail) and a bit of Photoshop.
Common Scoter, not so common in N. America to say the least, on the large boat basin at Crescent City California harbor
Common Darter - RHS Hyde Hall, Essex. Still trying these new extn rings! This time I had the 36mm+13mm on the macro lens. I'm quite pleased with the results unfortunately the Darter had enough of me getting ever closer and moved away before I could try other permutations.
Acknowledgement of Deeds by Commissioners of the Common Pleas Sarah Hewlings, wife of William Hewlings. The Property was located at St. Margaret, Lecister. Also mentioned Henry Johnson, John Hettersley, Colin Campbell Macaulay and Dated 12th April 1839.
The two Commissioners were, Samuel Stone, Joseph Harris of Leicester, Attorney’s and Commissioners.
Sometimes known as Married Women’s Deeds or Acknowledgement of Deeds by Married Women. A Document to record that a Wife was of full age, competent to understand, had been examined apart from her husband and voluntarily consented to the sale of Land and Property. The main intention was to ensure that a wife could not claim the right of Dower from the purchaser after her husband’s death. Single women and Widows had the right to own properties in their own right so were not covered by this 1833 Act.
The Declaration: Sometimes this first declaration could be signed by someone other than an Attorney and Commissioner (Gentleman, Farmer etc) who knew the woman. Normally it was signed by an Attorney who was a Commissioner of the Court of Common pleas. Then signed by a second Commissioner who declared he had no knowledge or interest in the transaction and as far as he was aware neither did the first Commissioner. Sometimes the document would also be signed by another Commissioner (for Oaths) or by a Judge in his Chambers.
A second document, the Certificate, gave the names of the two Commissioners, wife and husband. A précis of the Indenture connected to the sale was given, naming all who were named in the indenture.
