All decked out for the breeding season. Now it can easily be told from the other 4 loons. The similar Yellow-billed Loon would have an obviously lighter bill.

Common Loon, Algonquin PP
A pair of common loons allowed me the pleasure of watching them from my canoe early in the morning on this lake in Algonquin Park. They were exhibiting mating behaviour and actively hunting and feeding on crayfish in a shallow bay.
This shot is full frame with the Canon 7D and 400 5.6.
I was searching through some photos taken last summer, and realized that I hadn't made the final ID for this bird. So I sought the help of my friend, Denis Rivard, and his wife who are really good with IDs, and the consensus was that it was a Common Yellowthroat. My thanks to both of them. Photo was taken in a marshy area in the Bill Mason Conservation Area in Dunrobin (Ottawa)
