As many of the butteflies begin to leave I still find lots of pretty ones that last into the fall. The buckeye is common and hardy but is still quite a pretty creature.

The common moorhen is common indeed. The problem is photographing the moorhen and end up with a photo where you can see it's eye. Not only does he have black feathers with a black eye, he has this beak that would put Rudolph's nose to shame.

A number of fall warblers are notoriously difficult to identify. This female Common Yellowthroat made identification a bit easier by showing me her yellow "coverts", the feathers covering the base of her tail feathers. Seeing the yellow throat of the bird certainly helped too, but there are a few other warblers with this throat color.
Sainsbury's wildlife area Leek. This small area with a couple of ponds is turning out to be a small haven for wildlife.
I just love Buzzards. Perhaps they are common and maybe they are not the prettiest of birds, but that doesn't matter. Today, I couldn't take a decent picture to save my life and then I stumbled across the Buzzard. All of a sudden my day improved.
