Antwerp Zoo (Dutch: ZOO Antwerpen) is a zoo in the centre of Antwerp, Belgium, located next to the Antwerpen-Centraal railway station. It is the oldest animal park in the country, and one of the oldest in the world, established on 21 July 1843.

Whenever I see these Common Mergansers they always seem to be swimming away. I guess I need to be more patient and wait for them to swim back closer.

A superb find by my dad on our reptile walk in Glen Esk. This common lizard was a bit chilly (as were we!), so proved a great subject for a few shots :)

This common wildflower is readily found in lawns, parks, and woodland edges during the growing season. Violets also come in other colors such as deep purple, yellow, and white.
Going to seed in late summer. This native plant is a primary food source for Monarch Butterfly caterpillars. Late-nesting Goldfinches use the white fiber from the parachutes in nest-building.
"Common Flameback" a large woodpecker with it’s contrasted bright plumage makes this bird a ray of sunlight among branches and foliage.
