The **Common Guillemot** is a seabird found along the rocky coasts of the North Atlantic and North Pacific oceans. It has dark brown or black upperparts and white underparts, giving it a penguin-like appearance when standing upright on cliffs. Common guillemots are excellent divers and can swim underwater using their wings to chase fish such as sand eels and herring. They nest in large, crowded colonies on steep coastal cliffs, where each pair lays a single egg directly on the bare rock. The egg’s pointed shape helps prevent it from rolling off the cliff. After the chick hatches, it soon jumps from the cliff to the sea and is cared for by its parents while learning to survive in the ocean.

As far as I can tell this is a Common rough woodlouse, a species introduced from Europe. This is the same woodlouse as in my other photo, I was able to find it in the same spot the next day.
