Quite some time now, that I didn't get a Kingfisher in a nice enviroment. It was about time... waiting for the Osprey to come and instead getting this little dude.

A Common golden eye drake on the river Isar in Munich, i never saw more of these species like this spring.
Common Dog Violet / viola riviniana. Stanton Canal, Derbyshire. 15/04/20.
Over the last few weeks it's been a real joy to see Common Dog Violets gradually increase in number locally. I find them growing at the edges of footpaths and on the bank side margin of a small wood. The wood is adjacent to a former industrial site and offers me a wild haven in which to connect with nature during Covid-19 lockdown restrictions.

My first photo of this gorgeous duck, not best quality (sorry) but for me it was hard to taken because of the distance and as you know I don't have any lens in my camera so this is the best that I can do. Common Redshank / tringa totanus. Northumbrian coast. 12/94/25.
A Redshank roosting not far from the high tide mark, on the Northumbrian coast. There were three birds altogether, loosely grouped. I only noticed them when one moved a few steps to avoid the sea spray. It was whilst observing and photographing them that I became aware of an active Ringed Plover nest nearby.
NB: All images in this set were made looking down at the beach, over a shoulder high wall. The birds were not disturbed in any way.

Common Linnet / linaria cannabina. Wiltshire. 10/06/22.
'STANDING PROUD, UNUSUALLY BOLD.'
This splendid male Linnet, in his bright breeding plumage was standing watch as his mate drank from a puddle. I was struck by his small pointed, leaf-shaped crown feathers. I only noticed them when I viewed the image on the computer.
